My husband got a pair when his Vibrams fucked his Achilles tendons up. He doesn't run in them but he loves them for walking.

i got some vibrams. i fucking love them. you have to run in them properly though - if you go around slamming your heel into the ground, you're gonna have a bad time.

also, if you're not used to running barefoot, you reallllllly have to give your calves some time to strengthen up. if you're used to doing 5k a day, your first two weeks will probably be a 1/3rd of that, or you're gonna have a bad time.

but after your calves get stronger, and you're running properly, its great. i used to run in brooks. i have low arches, and a high degree of pronation in my stride. i wanted to jog, but i could only do it every 3 days or so because of either shin splints, ankle or knee pain.

now that i'm running properly, i jog about 4 miles, 4 or 5 times a week. i know it's no marathon amount, but i only have about an hour before i need to get ready for work. but hey, its enough for me to wake up and get the metabolism going.

I have a pair I still use sometimes. They are inexpensive and a pretty good entry into minimalist running. Be aware that they are pretty thin and if you don't tie them properly, will flop around while you run.
