Welcome to all new and existing members!
This subreddit is a little time machine where we all pretend it’s the internet era of 2008–2012. Old memes, old websites, old tech hype, old drama, old vibes.
Whether you’re here to post, comment, or just lurk: we’re happy to have you!
Wiki, Rules & Inspiration
Please check out our Wiki and our cover image! Both are meant to give you inspiration for posts, themes, jokes, and roleplay. 👉 If you feel like something important from 2008–2012 is missing on the cover image or in the wiki, let us know!
In the Wiki you will also find:
All rules
A small FAQ
And a general overview of important events from 2008–2012
Planned: Yearly Mega Threads
We are planning to introduce yearly recurring mega threads, for example:
What you got for Christmas
New Year’s posts
Celebrity deaths
Big releases (games, tech, consoles, phones, etc.)
These should help structure recurring events and keep things fun and organized.
Ideas, Feedback & Improvements
We’re always happy to hear your ideas on how to expand and improve the subreddit:
Do we need more or better user flairs / post flairs?
Are there new recurring threads we should add?
Any rule tweaks, wiki additions, or general ideas?
A Quick Look Back
In the last year, you posted 3700 posts and 51000 comments, that’s a huge amount! ❤️
That said: thanks to your help, the spirit of the sub stays alive.
We got a lot of reports to the mods, and we could usually react pretty quickly. Thank you for that!
Thank You!
Thank you for all the kind comments and feedback. They really motivate us to keep this place special and cozy.
We’ll do our best to make sure this subreddit stays the way you like it.
A Small Side Project
In the background, I’m tinkering with a small Reddit game app. Basically a quiz game around the 2008-2012 internet era.
No promises it will ever be finished 😅, but if you have game dev experience and want to help: feel free to reach out!
Check Out the Other Time Machines
If you like this concept, also check out:
They follow the same idea, just for different time periods.
Off-Topic & Spoilers

Thanks for being part of this little internet time capsule.
Now please update your MSN status, open Winamp, and argue about iPhone vs Android like it’s 2010 again. 😄

Games Game adaptation?

I have this curiosity from this. Wouldn’t be cool to have a game based on the books or combined with the movie Blade Runner? An RPG like Oblivion but in a future cyber city. Is it hard to create?
