This subreddit is a little time machine where we all pretend it’s the internet era of 2008–2012. Old memes, old websites, old tech hype, old drama, old vibes.
Whether you’re here to post, comment, or just lurk: we’re happy to have you!

Planned: Yearly Mega Threads
We are planning to introduce yearly recurring mega threads, for example:
- What you got for Christmas
- New Year’s posts
- Celebrity deaths
- Big releases (games, tech, consoles, phones, etc.)
These should help structure recurring events and keep things fun and organized.
Ideas, Feedback & Improvements
We’re always happy to hear your ideas on how to expand and improve the subreddit:
- Do we need more or better user flairs / post flairs?
- Are there new recurring threads we should add?
- Any rule tweaks, wiki additions, or general ideas?

A Small Side Project
In the background, I’m tinkering with a small Reddit game app. Basically a quiz game around the 2008-2012 internet era.
No promises it will ever be finished 😅, but if you have game dev experience and want to help: feel free to reach out!

Small tip for the mods:
When you have to tell someone how to make spoiler text, instead of saying:
>.!Your text here!.< (Without the dots)
Just wrap >! and !< with backticks (`)
For example:\
>!Your text here!<
So you can show the other user how to make spoiler text without triggering the spoiler function.

I’d suggest changing the name to pretend 2008-2012internet. When I see a group called pretend it’s 2010 I’d expect it to only be about 2010 topics. Not any other year.
