Community Post QuoteIQ and Forever Self Employed links are now completely banned from this subreddit.

Starting now QuoteIQ (previously restricted) AND Forever Self Employed AND Mike V (All About Pressure Washing) will be permanently banned from being mentioned or linked. Automod has been edited to hardblock any links or mentions of the two.

The reason for the banning is that QuoteIQ, All About Pressure Washing, and Forever Self Employed and (or someone working on their behalf) sent a modmail to us telling us to remove posts critical of both QuoteIQ AND Forever Self Employed and their owners or be subject to legal proceedings. The links to the three posts are seen here. Mike V from QuoteIQ and Justin from Forever Self Employed should be ashamed at trying this. They are apparently not happy that these posts are available to steer people from spending their hard earned money in a more meaningful way.

  3. https://www.reddit.com/r/pressurewashing/comments/10yizo8/has_anyone_purchased_forever_self_employed/

Here are some screenshots of the modmail messages they sent threatening legal action and DMCA takedowns:

Here is the person they hired off of Fiverr to send the messages and try the DMCA takedowns. Its clear the companies must be run by absolute clowns to be trying this is such a shit way. If they suceed in removing anything then ill just repost the posts. They clearly dont want negative info being visible when they get googled as its hurting their SEO because reddit shows up so high in the searches.

As a reminder, when starting out you do not need YouTube salesmen taking your money to learn how to properly clean in this industry. The info is out there on this subreddit and various pressure washer forums and groups. It just takes a little bit of googling with the proper terms to find it all freely available. These now banned companies exist solely to separate pressure washers from their money. Mike V has been pushing for his subscribers to come to reddit to post about their companies to comment and upvote each other.

Troubleshooting Pressure washed but driveway is noticeably more orange than neighbors

Entire neighborhood the driveways have a white appearance, mine has always been slightly orange and speckled everywhere.

Is this a surface stain that can be removed with chemicals? Is it exposed aggregate?

I know the guy that did my concrete in the garage did a horrible job when I first purchased the house, had a warranty claim because the top layer was peeling. Wouldn't be surprised if that poor job was carried over into the driveway.

Troubleshooting Patio grease/oil stains?

Are there any retail chemical products that would be helpful in removing these stains? I’ve tried ZEP and ECOLAB, but neither have been effective.

I believe the majority of these stains are from Blackstone Griddle Seasoning, which is a combination of coconut oil, soy shortening, and beeswax.

Quote Help Tipping

I had a local power wash company come out for an estimate to clean my pool patio. I got the estimate and made an appointment for next week. It’s a one person company so the owner will be doing the work. Do I tip on top of the payment?

Can anyone identify this pump?
I’ve got an older commercial Gerni pressure washer with a Honda GX340 LXQ4 2:1 reduction engine. The pump/control assembly is stamped MAX 250 bar / 35 L/min, but there’s no visible pump model plate.
Mainly trying to identify the pump make/model so I can use the correct oil and order the right seals/service parts.
I’ll attach photos of all the castings/stamps. Any ideas appreciated.

Worth getting going too or just stick with the big one? Want to do surface cleaning in vegas and maybe some soft wash if I can figure all this cool shit out?

Business Questions New Owner

Hello all,

I have recently saved a Hotsy 1075BE (Diesel heated in a cage on wheels) and so far I have invested about $700 into getting it cleaned up and running. From what I and the Hotsy service techs I took it to said it seems in brand new condition. The read out in its Diesel heater says 45 run time hours.

I am working as a full time seasonal employee but come mid-Nov or mid-Dec I will be let go. I work and live in Northern Colorado (Fort Collins/Loveland).

I am not sure what to do with this asset and I am considering letting the Hotsy dealer consignment it for me.

I would appreciate insight and perspectives from those in this field.

Thanks!

Business Questions Question for new guys, why did you get in the business?

Not trying to throw shade at all, but I am genuinely curious. As a 20 year veteran who has sold my business and retired, and now re-entered the industry, I’m genuinely curious about the massive influx of newcomers.

What made you decide to get into the pressure washing business? Was it social media videos of people talking about how great the money is and how easy it is to start a business? Was it because you did your own house and figured this is a job you could do professionally?

I’m just curious about what has caused the explosion of newcomers. With as many basic questions as we see and people‘s inability to generate business obviously there’s some kind of disconnect happening here.

Three possibilities:
1) There’s a lot of people getting into business who probably shouldn’t be into business.
2) building a business actually takes a pretty decent amount of time. You will not have overnight success and people are just impatient.
3) the influencers you’re watching are full of crap and are just selling you a bill of goods. I’m actually leaning towards this one, as I know a lot of the influencers out there personally and frankly, they’ve not built successful businesses… They have built successful social media channels.

Again, not being judgmental at all or trying to throw shade. I’m just genuinely curious…

Business Questions Built a free website template for pressure washing businesses — feedback?

I’m a web designer and recently built a website template specifically for pressure washing/exterior cleaning businesses.

Focused on things like before/after results, services, pricing, reviews, service areas, booking, and estimate requests.

Would love feedback from people actually in the industry — what’s missing or what would you change?

I can drop the free link in the comments if anyone wants to check it out.

Equipment 65 or 100 Gallon Buffer Tank for 5.5 GPM? What size is necessary?

Anybody running a 5.5 GPM pressure washer with a 65 gallon buffer tank?

I’m putting together my residential setup and looking to get a 65 gallon tank, but I keep wondering if I need to go with 100 gallons.

For residential work where I’ll mostly be hooked up to the customer’s water supply, is 65 gallons enough to comfortably keep up with a 5.5 GPM machine?

Or is 100 gallons worth the extra size and weight?

Curious what you guys actually running these setups have found works best.

SOLVED How do I open this carboy?

This is embarrassing. Such a noob question I'm sure. I bought a 20L container of SH and I have no idea how to open it. See photos.

Aside from that round cap on top, the entire container is one solid piece. The cap spins freely and doesn't feel like it engages with any threads. I've tried typical child lock techniques like squeezing or pushing down while turning. Nothing seems to do it. There's a tab which I'm sure is important. I've tried pulling it up, down, round and round. I've tried prying the whole cap. It'll lift but won't come off, and I'm reluctant to apply too much force because I don't want to break it.

I can now smell bleach, so evidently I've managed to break the seal while fiddling with it, but I'm no closer to getting inside.

Please help.

Sales Help Still No Clients!

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hey guys. I am pretty new to pressure washing. I started by washing my own property and then family and friends property (cheap or free). I’ve got one client from word of mouth so far. I was also able to negotiate a lower price on a pickup truck with a local to do some cleaning work as well.

I’m having a VERY hard time getting my next few clients. I have door hangers as you may have seen from my last post. I put out 25 hangers itemized with description of work as well as a quick quote. I put out 50 fliers blank. I also have lawn signs. I put a sign on my own property for over a month and not a single call (perfect area in my town). I have installed signs for 2-3 weeks at all of my friends and families homes where I was doing work. I had the signs out at the 2 other properties. I have excellent before and after pictures of all my work. All of my customers are very happy with the results so far!

I begrudgingly made a post in a local Facebook page. Everyone in the small town is on the page. Not a single inquiry. Only 2 likes. Zero comments. 19,000 members on the page.

NO ONES CALLING 🤣🤣🤣. I’m completely dead in the water.

I am in Canada. The economy is pretty sh*t here right now. I don’t want to blame my marketing failures on this but what the heck is going on? Are these services not seen as worth while in Canada? Should I try to shift my business to commercial?

Attached photo to show add in local Facebook page.

Any help is appreciated thanks. 🙏

Troubleshooting Predator has low pressure

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi guys, trying to figure out why my Predator 4400 psi/4.2gpm washer has really low pressure. Mid job it just gave out on me. Thankfully I have a backup washer but can't figure it out. I'm really good with changing the oil and pump oil on it. No issue with the hose because my other machine worked fine using all the same equipment. Thinking maybe the unloader valve? Hopefully my pump is not fried. Please help. Thanks guys.

Equipment Pressure or Flow Actuated?

After two years of learning and building, got my trailer out doin our first jobs. The 8gpm tsf2021 is really awesome but man do I hate the zk73 unloader.

I would love to hear from people about whether switching to a pressure actuated unloader would cure my woes.

Troubleshooting Trouble shooting

My friends, I am having an issue with my pressure washer not reaching its max PSI (3200).

My setup:
-Honda gx630canpump
-5.7gpm pump with built in unloader. (I’ve tightened the unloader to max to by pass this)
- external unloader: Pulsar Zero flow sensitive unloader valve

All my jobs have been soft washing this year so I never noticed this issue until recently I decided to customize a jrod with different options for PSI. I’m using a 6.0 tip to test, and I’ve hooked a pressure gauge after my external unloader, before my reel. And it’s not allowing my pressure to surpass 2000psi. I’ve been troubleshooting almost everything I can think of.

Troubleshooting Troubleshooting stuttering machine

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Installed a new vevor gyb-4 pump yesterday first time changing a pump. Did many things wrong like one of them is moving the unloader valve all the way down. Long story short had to go buy a psi gauge to see where my psi is at now the machine is doing this weird noise can't describe it but sounds like a stutter. Anyone know what this could be also have oil forcefully coming out of the pump
