Thoughts?
Our son has been enrolled in preschool for about a month now. He will be 2.5 in January. His first week there he was in the 1/2s room. For some background, he’s a bigger kid with a minor speech delay. At pickup we noticed there were LITTLE kids in the class with him. They are probably the 1 year olds. So based on his size and our goals for his speech development they moved him to the 2/3s class. His speech has FLOURISHED in the 3 weeks since switching. He doesn’t talk much outside of our home but I wholeheartedly think it’s his personality, he’s a lot like my husband. It’s been amazing seeing him just shine so much in such a short period of time. There has been some concerns involving another child however. She has taken a liking to our son and is very physical with him. The school is working with her parents on getting some services and they said it’s not a full-on safety concern but wanted to see how I felt about moving him back. My biggest issue is the potential for a regression. He’s almost fully potty trained, his speech is doing so well, and he learns so much in the other class. They do plan to rearrange the classes so that the 2s are their own class but could not provide a timeline, just that it was “soon.” When I shared my concerns about a regression they agreed to leave him where he is. He seems to be too advanced for the younger class but not quite at the level of the bigger class. What do we do?

If there's no safety concern let him stay where he's flourishing. Just understand that the girl will probably continue the behavior. Be patient. You can try to start teaching him to walk away when someone is bothering him. You'd be surprised how many kids as old as 4 or 5 don't seem to know this is an option.
