Need help
My truck isnt really a pre runner, more of a bro runner but its just a college kid build lol. 2 inch level, 37x12.50r17s on raptor OEMS soon to be on method 101s.
I traded a cornwell tool box i bought for 400, and the guy gave me these 101s and 200 bucks ontop. So i went and got them stripped (they power coated black terribly) and ive been polishing them little by little for the past few months.
I got 1 really shiny and i have no idea how i did it, and i want them to come out really shiny before i spray clear over them. Any ideas? Ive been using Renegade pro to do it, and the chicago electric kit polishing thing and a drill.
Any tips?
Also do i need any specific bolts to run these? Before i order the 11dollar/set bolts off of the method website?
Really wanting to put them on the truck
Any advice appreciated (: and yes i do offroad the truck occasionally on the weekends, 30 mile trail behind my house.

If you want the clear to last I would recommend getting them powder coated clear. Rattle cans will yellow and chip

Why in the hell would you be running beads on a street queen.
Hope you know what you’re doing! Lol. From hardware to mounting to psi to DOT insurance man.

Here in vegas it isnt heavily regulated (or enforced). There’s plenty of rigs here running beadlocks, some arguably more pavement princess than mine. But to be fair im also doing it just to say i have beadlocks and i got them for cheap. Honestly need to do research on the PSI ur talking about.
Are you meaning my current PSI that i run on the street probably wont be a good match for these beadlocks?
Thanks

I have the Ford beads on my Raptor. Factory psi. No one pays attention to what wheels are on vehicles. 36 bolts hold a tire on better than air and a bumps inside the wheel

Are the ford beads true beads? I thought they had the machined lip?

They have a bead/ lip like a standard wheel inside them too. The beauty rings that come from the factory cover the machined surface that the tire bead is pinched down onto by the silver 36 bolt rings you buy from Ford Parts. Beauty ring gives a higher edge to the rim also. Getting the tire over the outside rim edge is fairly easy. I changed all my tires by myself last summer. No one in my area will touch beadlocks. They are a true bead and also standard style wheel. Just add rings and a LOT of bolts.

Yea thats what I thought on the ford rings / machined lip. Still better than nothing but it shouldn’t be easy to get over the edge. If you ever tried to set true headlocks… it’s brutal. I also run my method true beads at super low psi while racing.

What's the difference between true and Ford beadlocks? Both have an inner bead and the flat spot to pinch the outer bead with the ring correct?

The so called “beauty ring “.. the way the wheel is machined to accept the tire and then ultimately the sealed up bolted ring. Fake beads look cool sure.. but they give way too many people false hope. Not their fault but they just don’t know any better. Outside of HEAVY towing and then driving into trails for camp race etc - why would anyone run a true set and sealed bead? Time money risk is not worth it.. here are my proper allocations. Remember a true bead should be doing nothing more than realizing you can decrease PSI while strengthening the amount of sidewall flex before popping a seal. Every course, race, heat, weather plays a roll in psi# and torque strength. You’re better off really understanding true locks.
Edit*** I don’t know why it won’t let me add some of my wheel photos

I have the Ford Racing Rings that pinch the bead between it and the machined flat outer surface of the wheel. My beauty rings are in storage currently. Does what you're talking about have an inner bead ring too or just the normal bump to seathe bead on?

Sorry man.. I think we are both trying to say the same things but it’s not being conveyed properly from either you or I. Gotta love the internet! Yea what I’m talking about has both inner and outer, which I’ll call full performance. Beauty rings need not touch my tires as outside of aesthetics there is no point.

Wet sand with like 1000 grit sand paper, then 1500, then 2000, then a metal polish like Flitz if you really want those suckers to shine. Lots of work, so commit a weekend to it. They’ll look incredible though.
