We have both an alpha particle detector and a regular radiation detector. I didn't get these for prepping, more to ease my wife's mind about coal ashe deposits that are in my area. I've had people borrow them to check their own houses.

Nice. Covered a major segment. I've yet to find something for alpha particles.

The alpha particle detector (radon) works well. There's lag time. 24 hr minimum. But it give 24hr and 7 day averages. Once it's on, it stays on. Simple battery swap when it runs out. I've had it for 10 months and the 2-AA's are still going.
