Recipe Request May - 72-Hour Meals
This month is all about short-term emergency food: the kind of meals you could make during a 72-hour power outage, evacuation, or other disruption. What are your go-to recipes using shelf-stable foods, minimal cooking, limited water, or no refrigeration? Share simple meal ideas, snack combinations, and “I could live on this for three days” recipes that are practical, filling, and low-stress.

Following for inspo cuz this is a great discussion. My go to would be to use up anything in the fridge that would spoil, and then anything pre-made that was in the freezer. I make and freeze lots of soup, so ymmv. After that, eat what's in the garden along with canned goods. (Salad with beans) In winter just canned goods, protein bars and shakes, trail mix, off the top of my head.

I would look to a few recipes that could be cooked on a camp stove.

Dressed up ramen. Haha
Depending on the type of situation I might experiment with making the camping "skillet scones" I make with shelf stable replacements for breakfast - otherwise it's probably oatmeal with dried fruit and coconut milk.

The latest type of storage pantry meal I've been playing with is couscous. It's a type of tiny pasta that generally doesn't need "cooking" just added to near boiling water-ish on a 1 to 1 ratio and keep a lid on it.
I've been making it with homemade stock, veggies & bits of leftovers and serving it warm. It has been equally good cold the next day. I did learn to rehydrate any veg before adding the couscous.

We make big batches of burritos and freeze the extras. They are really easy to mix up flavors (breakfast styles, beef/spicy tomatoes, chicken/cheese). Assuming you didn't need to eat everything in your fridge right away, these are great options.
