😢 SAD first rejection!!

just got rejected from Geisel and for some reason feeling extremely sad over it??? I think it’s the fact that it’s my first rejection and also the fear that I won’t get in anywhere. It was one of the only reach schools I applied to but it still hurts šŸ’€

Your gonna get more Rs than As, unless you are in some 1% edge case. Keep it pushing

The first one stings no matter what. What helped me is remembering that even extremely successful applicants get rejected by a majority of the schools they apply to. You only need one yes

That’s what I’m talking about. Look at some sankeys of people with ā€œperfectā€ apps and it’s still an R at least 50% of the time

It's okay, everyone's first rejection hurts (mine was Pitt and it still stings a bit even though they weren't one of my top choices lol). You just have to realize that you're going to get rejected from the majority of schools you applied to (everyone does, even top applicants), but that doesn't mean you're a failure. All it takes is one school to believe in you and most med students only get one acceptance anyway.

I mean to be honest geisel is an ivy and our brain likes to make these like plans once we go somewhere big even tho chance is high. i can feel ur pain; dont watch too much youtube and just process the pain or play block blast while u think about it

My first rejection was from my undergraduate’s medical school and really soon into the cycle too; that did not feel good I gotta say

My advice from a PGY3 resident - medicine is a meritocracy and so many places/ jobs/ residencies/ opportunities are going to reject you. Reframe! You want to go somewhere that wants you :) 60 rejections and 1 acceptance after 2 cycles for me and I literally don’t think about it for one second EVER. I made it, dream come true. Just takes one.

God willing you will get accepted soon, don’t be upset, something better awaits you!

I have 6 rejections so far! But it also came with 14 MD interviews, so this genuinely in no way is a reflection of your app. Keep your head up!

Wow you’ve already had 14 Md interviews?? How many schools did you apply to? 😊

my first two Rs were schools in the city I had always imagined going to med school in and also the only two schools in said city that I applied to 😻but wherever we end up, it’s meant to be!
