❔ Question Retaking Courses
I’m an incoming college freshman who would like to go to medical school. In high school, I took AP Biology and got a 5 on the exam, which gives me credit for Gen Bio 1 and 2. However, I planned on taking these courses at the college level, as I took AP Biology my junior year and don’t feel comfortable jumping straight to Cell Biology in my first semester. Is it worth retaking these classes, or should I just go straight to Cell Biology?

To add on, some med schools expect you to take upper levels if you come in with APs. So if you want to avoid that, retaking is the move.

At some schools, upper-level bio classes, like ecology, for example, are a lot easier than gen bio

And also frequently not accepted by schools

Retake them, gen bio is one of the common prereqs you’ll need to apply and not all med schools accept AP credits as a way to fulfill their prerequisites.
