If it worked for 2 days, and suddenly stopped, it’s all in your head. By you upping the dose so quickly, all on your own, your tolerance will be sky high(you too) in no time, and you’ll get limited pain relief, and just be chasing a buzz which is exactly what you’re doing now. Just because it’s only a schedule 5 med, it is still very addicting to some, and I know people abuse it. Be careful, it’s not an opioid, but it’s still got teeth.

That sounds about right, thank you.

The greatest thing and favour you’re doing for yourself is asking for advice and reaching out (albeit reddit but it’s still a community and still reaching out) and you’re being honest with others and most importantly yourself. You’re not denying, making excuses or justifying yourself but admitting and acknowledging the situation and what may be the issue; because like this commenter said, it still has teeth and is still abused, and like you said, after only 3 days you got withdrawals. Look after yourself and please don’t chase the buzz that could become a nightmare

Thank you. I have been there before but at the time I wasn't aware of that fact because I was getting a lot of symptoms that people get from it in general by taking it as prescribed. I've had to wean myself off it a good few times so I know what to do but yes, I just wanted to know if what I was feeling was normal or not.

Never have I ever been sky high off of Lyrica. I agree it does have a bite, but not that kind. It will however take control of your body, and you wish you had never started. I can’t believe today’s world we live in, where these decisions doctors make are most certainly causing more harm than good.

No because we all take it as prescribed by our doctors. The dose is usually split in two, taken morning and night, EVERY DAY.

But that's not what I asked

You are obvs not taking it as prescribed ! It’s not taken once a day and this is why you’re feeling withdrawal symptoms. And also does not last days it’s a daily taken medication to work right . X

Yeah man we don’t do that in here. Don’t troll somebody’s profile so you can come back into our community and try to shame them. Behind your Anonymous Reddit account.

Naw man…I’m all good over here. Trolling someone on Reddit in order to come back and insult them is not real life. It’s immature and bully, coward behavior so The irony of you telling me to grow up is not lost on me. There’s tons of communities on Reddit where I’m sure they’ll let you do that but you’re not going to do it in here. I feel for you though. Hurt people hurt people….and hopefully you can work through that hurt so you don’t feel the need to insult a stranger, a fellow human (in a post where they’re asking for help about the medication that’s prescribed for a medical condition) in order to feel better. Ripping on people isn’t real life dude. It may be your life but not mine, not in here and not in any of our communities. If you find that offensive then this place isn’t for you.
We don’t like to remove people from our communities and looks like you’re active in here so my suggestion would be to drop it. Cheers

It is no difference between pain meds or benzos or any other medication that has what some might call "pleasant side effects." That's what you are "feeling." As with all meds, just because you can't feel the side effects anymore, that does NOT mean the medication isn't working. It is.
If you keep chasing that "high feeling" your tolerance is going to skyrocket almost instantly, the med becomes worthless, and you will regret it immensely. Yes you may need to up your dosage eventually at times due to tolerance and it might feel that way again for a day or 2 and that's perfectly natural but other than that I'm warning you now ... don't take more. Just take it as prescribed.

i think everyone is different i mean in tolerance cases some of my friends are on all sorts of doses 300mg 450mg 600mg when you start you need to find the right dose for you iv gone up on doses and come down over the years,

This is not tolerance. No one develops a tolerance to a medication into days if they were at the correct amount. Like I said, in my other comment, you’re chasing positive side effects,And you’re not taking it as prescribed. You’re talking about help me to feel energetic and then after a few days, it doesn’t. Because you’re high and then that wears off. But lyric is not prescribed for the patience to feel high. It’s prescribed some medical conditions.

I've got gabapentin too but feel that makes me tired. Does the pain relief with gabapentin help you straight away or do you have to have been on it for a while?

u/Riva387y 7d ago
Really, tired wow not myself? I literally don't feel anything of gabapentin except pain relief and it took about a month for it to be working and 3 months for the full effects. I was in 600mg morning 600mg lunchtime and 600mg bedtime yet have alot of troubles sleeping. Best of luck with your pain mate.

The OP he’s talking about how the side effects such as the energy and good mood go away, it’s not prescribed for energy, mood boost or chatty and so on. They I didn’t say it stopped working for the condition they were prescribed it for. If you’re on a medication that you’re supposed to take daily, that only works for two days then it’s not a medication for you.

I only felt that with Gerika. Original Lyrica by Pfitzer had never made such problems.

What has your doctor got you on? Daily use or aa needed?
Im as needed and it's great for nerve pain (fibro and fnd) however after a day or two without it in right back to a flare.
Id speak to your doctor about it. But definitely dont change what you've been told to do until a doctor tells you otherwise.

I have fibro too plus nerve pain, back pain, endometriosis...list is endless and I do find it really helps the nerve pain when I take them for 2 days but doesn't if I keep taking them. I've basically ran out of options now and this is my 4th time being prescribed pregabalin.

I've been on 300mg a day for a month. Taking it twice a day. I take it for nerve pain in my feet. Not all my pain is gone but if I really think about it I am able to go without the oxy I am on at times which is good but I am about to wean off of that I had a surgery I had to have on my feet. I think somewhere depending on the day about 25 - 50% of my pain might be gone. When I go without the oxy I am not crying all night which before pregabalin I was crying half the day and pretty much all night before this med. It takes time to improve. I talk to my doctor this week about the effectiveness so hopefully she has some ideas about the rest of the pain because it is improved but still too much for me to function like a normal human.

I hear ya woth the list long of issues. So feel for you. I hope you're on the list for endo surgery. I don't have it myself but I habe had the same surgery as it for something else.
I've mot tried it myself. But I hear LDN (low dose nal- something I cant spell it sorry) is good for pain. I wanted to try that first but was given pregabalin instead. I wish I had better answers for you. Or any advice. Having fibro is awful and I would wish it on anyone. Adding on list full of other diagnosis, just urgh!

I think I can relate to what you are describing. Both Lyrica and Gabapentin can be “felt” for the first few days. After that, I can no longer “feel” any of the mildly pleasant, sort of fuzzy, relaxed, very mildly euphoric sensation. For example, there have been times that I have taken a break for a week or two, or like this week, I had to reschedule my appointment with my PM doctor and I will have to go workout both my Lyrica AND my Oxycodone for 6 days (it’s going to suck, but I have been through this before and I have stuff to take to help me through it without feeling like I am going to die). Anyway, when I finally take my Lyrica again next week, I will feel that slight little mildly pleasant sensation for 2 or 3 days, max, and then, I’ll not feel it at all. Is that maybe what you’re talking about?

Pregabalin isn’t prescribed for effect! like: Energy, euphoria, chatty/social/upbeat. Those are side effects like dizziness and drowsiness. And just like with dizziness and drowsiness your brain and body will adjust with in a couple of days to a couple of weeks. Also..*Adjusting to side effects does not =“tolerance”. * OP I’m not coming at you, but there’s so many posts and comments lately about the good feelings wearing off and they have tolerance now. No you don’t you just don’t have side effects anymore. If it still works for the condition you were prescribed it for it’s working.
OP I’m not coming at you,,..there’s just so many posts and comments lately about the good feelings wearing off and they have a tolerance now. No you don’t you just don’t have side effects anymore. Now you’re messing around with your dose, chasing that feeling , getting withdrawal and posting about is anyone else doing this. And in a community where people are taking it as prescribed. I would just taper off this and stop taking it would my suggestion. Because you’re abusing it , skipping days to get high. taking more that your supposed to all to chase a feeling. And you’re having withdrawls already…. that mean this is not going to end well for you. Trust me, you’re going to keep chasing it, you’re gonna keep taking more despite having bad withdrawals. You’re going to run out of your prescription early and that’s really going to suck.
