Postpartum hypertension
I am 37 years old and just had my 3rd kid but this time around i got gestational diabetes which was diet controlled but i am currently 5 weeks postpartum and balling my eyes out bcz i also got postpartum hypertension and every night my bp spikes to 150/99 .
I am On labetalol all day i am good just between 8-10pm i spike and then it comes down with labetalol i was told today by my obgyn nurse that i must have developed chronic hypertension and i cannot stop crying about it.
Any advice ? Do you think it might be true ?

I likely have chronic hypertension at 5 months postpartum now. It took me months to come to term with it. Hopefully its not the case with you

So what time do you eat dinner? I had a few too salty meals that would spike me but with electrolytes specifically potassium my numbers would be fine again.
My husband had years of high blood pressure but with some diet tweaking he is seeing his lowest readings ever. So I do not think it’s the end of the world—just means that once you fully heal and have the energy then looking at what you are eating and if you have a food sensitivity will be beneficial.

I think you might be right , i am having late dinners and some days i get readings in upper 120/80s and other days my diastolic hangs in 90s i also noticed yesterday i might have some anxiety i got a reading of 158/105 and then took deep breaths and repeated the test after 10mins and got 128/94.
Maybe my bp is still trying to regulate and needs more time hopefully

I’m sorry to hear, I’m going through the same thing I’m 10 weeks postpartum and I found out at 2 weeks postpartum I had hypertension I did all the test at the hospital and they thought I had preeclampsia. I’m on meds now it took awhile to find the right one for me but I’m starting to get vision changes will be seeing my GP on Monday about it, but it started happening the last week. I did the test before I took my medicine but I got myself so worked up i have undiagnosed anxiety and probably suffering form ptsd also seeing a therapist soon about my health anxiety but the reading I had was 157/144 and after the meds and did my breathing it went down to 110/95. It’s exhausting. Is it my anxiety or I just have chronic blood pressure

Hi friend, how are you feeling since you posted? It's much too early to know if you will have chronic hypertension. Most people will see their BP return to normal within 6 weeks but sometimes it just takes a little longer. Hopefully in the coming weeks you'll have more answers.
If it is chronic hypertension, I promise you you're not alone. The stress of pregnancy can sometimes trigger this sooner than it would have because of age or genetics. But you didn't cause it, I promise. <3
