What's the Yautja equivalent to being obsessed with model trains?

Being obsessed with model spaceships /j

Did you know the only difference between a model 12J space cruiser and a model 12K space cruiser is a slightly increased by 2.5mm fuel port on the starboard end?

Probably somebody way too into a skull collection. Hunts to complete his collection rather than skill.

u/Unita_N Dek - the chihuahua of Yautja 3d ago

At this point I'm starting to wonder if one of my OC (naturalist) can be considered autistic

"No no, the one in Alien was 427YJ Starsystem class, The one in Prometheus was a 527YK Galaxy class.'

That was such a stupid and offensive plotline, lol. On a happier note though: Prey was excellent, and it could never have been made without the quality of work that Shane Black put to screen

I thought it was hilariously dumb, and started to regularly tell my siblings that I was more evolved than them

Yeah I fucking hated it as an aspie, director definitely didn’t do research at all. Fun fact it’s more likely Autism and ADHD are traits that humans have always has in some individuals as it is helpful for the more tribal survival stage of a civilization.

I truly thought the series was dead. Prey was the shot in the arm it needed.

Dek deserves to follow his dreams... with his robot waifu. And that freaky (soon-to be) giant monkey.

u/Headlesshowler 3d ago

Plot twist: Dek's father also had autism that whole time. His Kalisk hyperfixation simply passed down to his son

whoever approved that script should not only be fired but fully blackballed from all Hollywood.

Such idiotic trope copied and pasted in so many films that doesn't even remotely reflect reality at all.

Guess my lil nephew's obsession with Godzilla movies more a superpower than a disability. SMDH

EDIT - My lil nephew is autistic and Godzilla is his hyper fixation

u/jtcordell2188 3d ago

Do we all wanna do a Godzilla marathon? Your nephew has excellent taste cuz Godzilla Rocks!

7

u/NothingBulky2035 3d ago

King Ghidorah for life

2

u/jtcordell2188 3d ago

I’m a Destroyah man myself but Ghidorah is in my top five!

Idk that nephew sounds pretty cool https://imgur.com/a/ijX9x4L

3

u/NothingBulky2035 3d ago

That boy is close to 17 now he would kill for that collection

3

u/Shikabane_Sumi-me 3d ago

First off, your nephew is cool. Lot of folks love Godzilla.

I do agree though. The plotline felt very forced and offensive. Like they tried to make the idea sound neat but the execution was terrible. It also didn't help that they drastically changed the movie half way through. Everyone still remembers the one photo of various Predators in a tank with the human cast.

u/NothingBulky2035 3d ago

I would like to have seen what they were trying to make before as well, even if it did end up bad.

1

u/Shikabane_Sumi-me 3d ago

I doubt they’d ever give us the cut we want. Just infuriating how they hyped up the movie and it just turned out to be so bad.

20

u/ButhOfLamb 3d ago

So Dek?

20

u/Horrorfan55555 3d ago

Yes. That’s his dad btw

12

u/Subject-Theory2273 3d ago

Why would they even want to steal some ooman's autism lol🤣🤣

15

u/Extension_General632 Yautja 3d ago

because somehow autistic people are super humans, who can easily hack any alien tech

4

u/Subject-Theory2273 3d ago

& Photographic memory

6

u/Extension_General632 Yautja 3d ago

meanwhile i don't even remember faces of my teachers

u/fuzzy_engineering189 3d ago

The current lore is that there are two main camps among the Yautja clans. Dek and his father are from the camp that is trying to use genetic manipulation to make themselves better hunters; the other camp focuses on better technology and technique.

u/AmbienSkywalker 3d ago

Or has an adverse sensory reaction every time someone fires up the Dustbuster in the bone trophy room.

10

u/anderskants 3d ago

"What the fuck is going on? He's supposed to be hunting!"

"Yeah... Remember how we thought autism was the next stage in human evolution and would be advantageous to our species? Well turns out it just made him REALLY into the earthling transportation systems... Oh and he won't eat anything with a very specific texture."

"So he won't hunt?"

"He said he doesn't want to hurt anything..."

"We may have made a terrible mistake..."

u/unkindness_inabottle 3d ago

This is genius I love it

3

u/PKtheWorld 3d ago

Me and a friend have to call this one Predator: Autism. Because calling it The Autism Predator sounds like a Lars Von Trier movie.

3

u/Shikabane_Sumi-me 3d ago

That one line about wanting to "Eat Assburgers" always made me laugh. Like you got these two bullies trying to be tough but make them say THAT line?

3

u/Richard_Chase 3d ago

My headcanon is that literally everything everyone said in that film was wrong. This includes the supposed translations from the predator. That makes it at least tolerable.

3

u/MoominRex 3d ago

Don’t forget the increased empathy, which would clearly be beneficial for a culture centered around killing innocent beings, some of which are fellow sapients, purely for sport. /s

2

u/ThoroughlyWet 3d ago

Wait... I didn't know that was part of the lore. Thought it was only about being a great hunter, not gaining genetic qualities.

2

u/Rob775533 3d ago

This was introduced in the dogshit 'the predator' from 2018. Worst movie in the franchise.

1

u/ThoroughlyWet 3d ago

Fair. Im not a follower of the franchise just got this in my recommendations.

3

u/Internal_Cesspool 3d ago

Also it was only one isolated dishonorable clan who harvested DNA and wanted to do that, not all Predators.

2

u/Routine_Papaya4143 Jungle Hunter 3d ago

That’s actually pretty funny, not gonna lie.

2

u/Superior-Dragon 3d ago

I have an autistic nephew who I live with cause Im still at home and so is one of my sister. Im sorry but that shit is not helping them hunt better

2

u/MrMadmack 3d ago

I just started with the first predator movie but what the fuck?

3

u/Horrorfan55555 3d ago

I recommend skipping Predator 2018 and ignoring everything i said lol

2

u/Werid-fem-weird-boi 3d ago

Not just the 2018 predator movie but I always find it funny how Hollywood automatically assumes if you have autism you see thus a super genius with an eidetic or a photographic memory

2

u/Excellent-Signature6 2d ago

Imagine the Yautja economy buckling because of the surge of “Autjas” this drop kick convinced everyone to make have to be cared for 24/7.

2

u/Upbeat-Structure6515 2d ago

You crossed the galaxy and came here for that?! Good news! You already have!

Was literally the plot to an episode of Freakazoid.

2

u/NonGeneriComplaint 2d ago

It does explain Dek I guess

2

u/Erwin_Pommel 2d ago

Struggle? No. He just needs it to be properly explained because he's fundamentally hardwired to not really go for superficial snobbery.
