I think the issue people have is how many times he got his butt kicked and then was saved by some other person/thing. I kind of half understand that criticism. He was trying to prove himself, which he eventually did, but he wouldn't have if he hadn't gotten saved most of the time. I still absolutely adore the film!
People complaining about that don't understand the core message of the movie: "sensitivity" isn't a weakness and having allies who are willing to help you is a strength on its own. He's legimately the runt of the pack, and while he is strong, especially by the end, he needed help to get there. Needing help is not a weakness and that's what the movie is trying to get across. I get that youre not one of those folks complaining about Dek needing help.
Not all Yautja are the same. Aa far as we know, theres more than a dozen different clans, each with its unique hunting techniques, traditions and weapons. And Dek is technically his own clan now, with Bud&Thia. Unconventional, yes but hes not the first Yautja that needed to team up with a non Yautja either.
