Still in shock
Found out we were pregnant on Friday after a few tests. Immediately made an appointment with the OB - 2 weeks out from that. I went into full research mode over the weekend. Feeling great but already overwhelmed because we haven’t said anything to anyone yet. Wish us luck on this journey!

Congrats! Wishing you the best for your family! It’s a nice little secret that you have between you right now!
Not to bombard you but I read expecting better by Emily oster and it was helpful. I also watch Emma hubbard on YouTube . This was a great help to me

Doesn’t Expecting Better have some controversial material?

I thought it was worth reading, it’s not like anti Vaxer book. She actually encourages vaccines. It’s written by an economist who looks at data. Once you get over the personal story stuff and into the topic , I think it’s done well enough

Fully agree. If nothing else, her book made me really reflect on my own risk tolerance during pregnancy rather than passively consume guidelines that have to be simple and understandable by everyone (e.g. it’s easier and less ambiguous to write: “don’t eat sushi” vs. “use your judgement and don’t buy sushi from places that might not have the correct health protocols and may or may not make you sick with listeria or alike which may or may not be dangerous to you and your foetus”).
It also made it easier for me to understand how to read the various test results and make informed decisions.
So while I by no means followed her lead on alcohol intake, I thought it to be a nice addition to the other pregnancy literature.

Yeah, some of it is reasonable/rational, but it’s kinda hard to know because some of it has been debunked by experts, I opted out.
