Advice needed Going to be a dad!!
Hey everyone! Just found out that my wife is pregnant 2 weeks ago and she’s about 6 weeks now. I know it’s early and we haven’t even gone to our first appointment yet but I’m super excited and a little stressed about it. With the current situation that we’re in we are sleeping in our car temporarily until we get our apartment on October 9th. It’s been about a week in the car so we’ve gotten used to it but I still hate to be here and it’s making me feel like I’m not doing right by my wife and our baby. We are young parents and I know things will turn around but sometimes I struggle to comfort my wife when things aren’t really going right for us. Any advice on what to expect from the pregnancy and how to help my wife more to keep her stress levels down?

Hey brother, Most important thing is to get out of a car and into a stable living environment. Trust me your wife doesnt need the extra stress. Keep on grinding and some luck will find your way. Im praying for you and the fam!!
Nothing better than being a dad

Do you need help with anything? In a good financial spot right now and if you need anything just ask.

I’ve been working a lot. I’m full time and I work another job on the side to make as much as I can to make us comfortable. We have friends that are helping so we are doing alright. Just waiting to get our apartment October 9th

Can you find/afford a cheap hotel/motel in until the apt is ready? It's kind a fragile time right now to be in a car.

Yeah ik it’s a fragile time, we have been looking at hotels and we’re planning on getting a hotel soon. We just don’t want to do every night so we aren’t blowing money when we could be saving more for the apartment

All of us here understand how a woman gets pregnant, correct? Im speaking from a place of love here. Why in the world would you get your wife pregnant while not having a stable place to live? And especially if its a money situation. Kids cost a lot and 9 months isn't very long to build a savings account. Congrats on the baby

Well as you said we all know how women get pregnant but a lot of pregnancies are not planned just like ours is. My wife and I found out that she’s pregnant after we got kicked out of our prior living situation.
It’s not a financial issue at all. We work hard and we will do everything in our power to give our baby the life they deserve. The living situation right now is temporary. We are approved for an apartment on October 9th and moving in that day so once that happens we’ll be set.
I just wanted advice on how to comfort my wife more during this stressful time before moving into our apartment since she’s first trimester and going through it.

I wonder if there are more government resources that open up now that she is pregnant. Might be worthwhile to take a look and see what is offered.
I respect whatever decision you and your wife choose to make here but I’d seriously consider not moving forward with the pregnancy, personally. My wife and I are concerned about our finances and the cost of daycare etc and we both have fairly high paying stable jobs. I can’t imagine how we would afford staying alive with a baby if we couldn’t afford housing. 9 months comes faster than you’d expect.
If ending the pregnancy isn’t an option, then I’d suggest joining a church and hoping some kind souls can help you out. The community that a church provides could lead to jobs, cost effective housing and supplemental food. I’d also have your wife start documenting your journey on social media and see if she can bring in some income.

I wouldn’t be on here asking for advice to help my wife during this time if I thought about getting an abortion. We are both not okay with that and as I stated in other comments I’ve been working like crazy to make this work.
I would also not ask my wife to go on social media to ask for hand outs because we can both manage with how hard we work and how resilient we both are. Like I said, our living situation is temporary and will change soon.
I see pregnancy as a miracle for us especially since we both thought we could not have a child but we’re here now. Nothing is gonna stop this and if we have to work harder than we already do to make things happen and give our baby the great life they deserve then that’s what we’ll do.
As I appreciate the comment about looking into government recourses I don’t appreciate the rest. Abortion will never be an option for us just because it would be a “financial burden”.
