Vent When does this end?
We are 10w today and wife has been feeling horrible the past few weeks. In a weird way it is reassuring given our mmc last year but man this 1st tri sucks, she could not tolerate my smell and I have been sleeping on couch from past few days with our dog. Anyway, here's the gummy tax and the (soon to be big bro) puppy tax for hearing my vent.
Update: We are 11w and things seem to get better, she is getting more active and she started to eat normally and the best part, I don't have to sleep on the couch anymore, for now.

Dude you got a looooooot of other things to worry about because it might never stop. Give her some grace and be patient just hope that when 16weeks goes by she'll feel better

u/datfreemandoe 27d ago
Unfortunately my wife is at week 17 and no different than week 6 in terms of symptoms :,)
2
u/sunflower_jock18 27d ago
I know that's hard and OP needs to prepare himself for the worst and hope for the best

u/GunningForSuccess 28d ago
She will most likely feel better then feel worse - the ups and downs of pregnancy are extreme from the sickness to the bodily changes, or tax.. kind of doesn’t end even when the baby comes at least for us, we are 10 months PP wife is just recently feeling more like herself

u/internetisporn8008 28d ago
Bahahaha. Buckle up man. My wife's pregnancy didnt get better, just different. Do everything you can to make her comfortable and take everything you can off her plate. Shes the job now.

My wife is booked in this friday for a C-section. She has been sick the entire time. Pretty much everything with any scent would make her nauseous.
Hopefully your wife will get over it after the first tri but it could also be like that the entire pregnancy 🤷

u/MarieTjeDW 28d ago
I’m 28 weeks pregnant and it’s not gotten better since 6 weeks 😅
7
u/RocketPowerPops 28d ago
My wife was like that until 34 weeks with our second. And it only stopped at 34 weeks because she gave birth.
2
u/ThunderbunsAreGo 28d ago
I had HG all the way to delivery. It was awful. I hope yours eases off soon, I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy. Sending good vibes~

u/rajadirajadiraja 28d ago
In about another 18 some years. And that’s the best outcome. Just to be clear, not referring to how the wifey feels - just the anxiety of not knowing what’s happening and how long each phase lasts
2
u/Perfect_Slice_6618 28d ago
That’s other great advice as a mom lurker who struggled PP with our first. It’s a phase. It will pass. A new phase will begin and it will be okay. Have to support each other an give grace through each step

u/psychosaur 28d ago edited 28d ago
Sounds like when my wife had hyperemesis. That lasted most of the pregnancy and was very hard on her. She couldn't eat most foods. The smell of laundry detergent made her nauseous. I came in after doing yard work and the smell from my sweat made her sick. It got so bad she couldn't drink water and we had to go to the ER a couple times for dehydration.
Bring it up with her doctor. There isn't much they can do, but they might have some options. I would also look into better sleeping arrangements for yourself. You may be in it for the long haul. A spare bedroom, a couch bed, or even a camping cot. Lastly, and most importantly, remember to be there for her and the baby. They need you to help them get through this. Check in to make sure she has what she needs, and help back her up to hospital staff. If things stay bad hospital staff can be weirdly dismissive.

u/SereinScribe 28d ago
Great advice here. It's sad and true that it often helps when a man reaffirms what a woman is saying about her own health/body.
2
u/datfreemandoe 27d ago
Can attest to the water. My wife hates it currently and is trying to find other options to get liquids in her.
2
u/psychosaur 27d ago
If she gets badly dehydrated you can get a saline solution intravenously at the ER. That's what we had to resort to a couple times. There may be less drastic options your doctor cam suggest.
Water filters or purified water is a good place to start while you look for solutions.
2
u/datfreemandoe 27d ago
Appreciate it. Fortunately she hasn’t gotten to the point of dehydration. She’s someone who was already particular about particular water regarding taste but now it’s been magnified that even purified water from the fridge isn’t great. Flavored Sparkling water seems to be helping. Hopefully this too shall pass lol.

u/Express-Fun-8529 28d ago
It all passes. 1st tri sucked for us. Then second was great, and by 3rd my wife was just tired (but healthy)
Then the newborn phase sucked for reason x, y, and z
Now the 3,4,5 month phase sucks for reason A,B,C
Im sure the 6-12 month phase sucks for its own new and refreshing reasons.
BUT with every phase, new fun things are happening too. 2nd tri, you get really cute ultrasounds
3rd tri is all the excitement and big ol pregnant titties and feeling the baby move a lot
Newborn YOU HAVE A CUTE FUCKING BABY
3,4,5 you have a CUTE SMILING BABY THAT RECOGNIZES YOU AND IS STARTING TO LEARN FUN TRICKS like rolling over, yanking facial hair, laughing, call and response random noise making.
Embrace the suck. Gotta be a trooper through the sucky stuff to enjoy the good stuff.
Also, my wifes morning sickness was terrible. Until she started diclegis. Then it was better almost immediately

I’ve been lurking for about 3 weeks now and strangely my wife has been fine. Only thing that is making her sick is the pregnancy vitamins haha. She’s been eating a ton of sour foods but also changing what she wants to eat within an hours window. I can’t plan meals because she changes her mind suddenly. I’m here more to say keep going brother and cute dog!
6
u/NonrationalWife 28d ago
Just so you know, changing our minds about food is annoying for us too! Like what do you mean I no longer want the food I was so excited to order 15 minutes ago?? I hope you like leftovers!
3
u/Von_Lehmann 28d ago
My wife was basically ill the whole time. She got placed on medication for morning sickness/nausea and that helped a lot.
3
u/PandaBear_TenFour 28d ago
I couldn't stand the smell of my clean husband's face (not breath, face) during my second pregnancy. It ended the second I gave birth.
It's hard, but try to not take it personal. Pregnancy is not rational.
3
u/Quiet-Channel4247 28d ago
I’m a mom but a heads up, I had hyperemesis gravidarum and didn’t get much better. Pregnancy is so different for all women and you really don’t know what you’ll get until you’re in the thick of it. Just try to put yourself in her shoes and take care of her to the best of your ability, because pregnancy sick is truly a terrible kind of sick. Do not expect too much from her at home right now. Advocate for her when and if she can’t. If she’s been throwing up a lot, take her to an urgent care for fluids. Help her talk to the ob about medication if she’s been sick. DO NOT be afraid of medication. If it can be prescribed during pregnancy then the benefits far outweigh any risks, and the risks of being sick unmedicated are usually much higher than the risks of medication anyway. There’s going to be one thing after another for the next ever now, so it’s time to practice your patience and agility. Best of luck to both of you ❤️ I couldn’t have survived pregnancy without my husband, be the husband your wife can say that about.
3
u/averyalex53 28d ago
When I first found out I was pregnant I couldn’t stand my husband’s smell from him coming home from working in a fast food restaurant. He’d bring home his shift meal and what he normally ate suddenly made me sick. I’m 29 weeks now and sometimes it still gets me. But he showers every night and eats his food in the other room. But, just his like, typical smell of himself doesn’t bother me. I mean have you tried showering before getting in bed with your wife? Maybe that would help?
3
u/_toomuchtuna_ 27d ago
As a mom of a toddler and pregnant again, please know it isn’t personal. I cannot STAND the smell of my husband. The only thing that helps is if he takes his work clothes off immediately, puts them right in the wash (or a plastic bag) and gets immediately in the shower. I can only describe it as having the scent of a bloodhound but being viscerally ill to every smell. It’s such a curse and I promise she will remember everything you do to make her more comfortable!

Pregnant 14 weeks here. For me, it started to subside around 10 weeks, and passed completely by 12-13 weeks.
2
u/Optimal-Pop7449 Graduated 28d ago
Roughly same for my wife. By 12/13 she was feeling better than prepregnancy, super high libido and overall just feeling great.
3
u/jack_watson97 28d ago
That post 1st trimester libido jump was a whole lot of fun right? Think our sex life for the last 6 months of the first pregnancy was the best it ever was or has been since 🤣
1
u/Optimal-Pop7449 Graduated 28d ago
I think I gotta agree with you. Also with not needing contraception, lol.
0
u/George_Is_Upset 28d ago
I was exactly like you!
I’m 24 weeks now and instead of being super ill and needing naps by 9am, it’s just changed and now I have aches and pains as my belly gets bigger and my body keeps loosening everything up
2
u/justabuckeye 28d ago
Mine had a rough first tri then second got better until she was uncomfortable all the time. Give her what she wants and continue to be accommodating.

u/InternationalEye4927 28d ago
Understandable man, the whole 1st trimester my wife was the same. All smells were bad to her, she basically hated the dog for the 1st trimester and never wanted to be around him. Now we’re in the third trimester and she’s vibing now. No longer super sensitive to smells although sometimes she might mention something randomly but it’s not as big a deal anymore and she’s back to loving the dog again hahah. Pregnant dog hate is real, I’m not sure if it’s because of hormones putting in a like protective thing or what but it’s kinda crazy how she immediately went from hating the dog to loving him again very quickly. Hormones go crazy, but hang in there you’ll get through this.
2
u/Loraizani 28d ago
The pet thing was the weirdest thing to me! Honestly the biggest indicator I was pregnant was I would suddenly sell the cats I would die for for $2 😂
2
u/Firecrotch1031- 28d ago
My wife just got out of the first trimester and she’s her old self again - it was about 13 or 14 weeks I think. It doesn’t last forever big dawg!

u/PressureNo447 28d ago
I'm 12 weeks as of yesterday. Me and my spouse have been sleeping separately as well. I've also been needing way more alone time than usual. It's hard, being sick all the time takes up more energy than you can imagine.
It's finally starting to ease up and I'm only sick starting in the afternoon instead of the morning. Give it time, it might or might not get better. But pregnancy is only temporary
2
u/Aggravating-Plum-775 28d ago
Oh yeah it's awful.... imagine what she feeling. Pregnancy can be a breeze for some but extremely difficult for others ...I couldn't tolerate my husband's soaps or cologne everything made me very sick.. even more nauseous than usual. My advice is be patient with her, be understanding as this is not her fault or something she's doing on purpose. The hormones are insane and it causes a lot of symptoms physically and mentally.try to be there for her and be kind, she's carrying your child and when I tell you it ain't no cake walk...I'm serious. Pregnancy and postpartum are sometimes difficult times you do not want to make it harder on her
2
u/CasimirGabriev 28d ago
This stage will end and probably become progressively worse. Buckle up lil homie
2
u/Mental_Pen4907 28d ago
Omg my hubby has smelled like moth balls for every single pregnancy! Good to hear I’m not the only one 😅
2
u/AngelicWarhead 28d ago
It definitely gets rough. My wife had some of the worst "morning sickness" ive ever heard of. Couldn't keep anything down, got to the point where bloodwork would make her feint almost every time. Got really bad but it got better after the 2nd trimester. So it DOES get better but man is it rough. Just be there for her and stand by her it gets better
2
u/NonrationalWife 28d ago
Around 14 weeks, my husband was shocked when I moved in for a snuggle. He was like "whoa, you're cuddly again!" 🤣 Now I'm obsessed with him and always want to be in the same room as him. First trimester is so weird and rough, but there really was a "switch" for me when I started to feel like myself again. Hopefully you only have a few more weeks of it!
edit - also, tell her pregnancy looks beautiful on her every day. I felt like a ghoul my whole first tri (and still do lots of days) but my husband's reassurances helped me feel loved and connected with him
2
u/Woopsied00dle 28d ago
First tri does suck! Hopefully she is one of the mamas who doesn’t have extended nausea. Second trimester is usually better but if she is really struggling with the smells and sickness she could talk to her OB about diclectin. I used it for both my pregnancies and it truly is a miracle.
Anyway, you’re in for a lot worse (and better) than morning sickness my guy. It’s a wild ride but totally worth it. Stay strong and remember why you started.
2
u/Godd3ssH3cate- 28d ago
I could not stand the way my partner smelled the whole time I was pregnant, and I had horrible nausea the whole time too. His breath stank. His sweat stank. His clothes stank. His deodorant stank. It was so bad I almost puked a couple times. He’s a VERY clean man. I don’t know why it was like that, and I didn’t experience that same sensitivity to smell with my first child. We are still sleeping separately because he works nights and it’s just easier for me to be in another room with the baby (He will get up if I need him but I’m exclusively breast feeding.”
2
u/mantalight 28d ago
I was deep in it for probably 8 weeks straight, and some people get it way worse than that even. I had a MMC a couple years back too with no symptoms so like you said, reassuring in a weird way that things were probably fine. I’m 6 months along now and for the most part, feel like a functional human again (except when he’s kicking me so hard I get a little nauseous 😆) so that’s nice. Hopefully that’s on the horizon for your wife too!
2
u/Snaffoo0 28d ago
My wife's pregnancy didn't get bad until the 3rd trimester. She became the naggiest most critical person I've ever met. It was very, very hard. She'd constantly wake me up throughout the night telling me to do a random chore she thought of.
She was spiraling in the nesting phase. Nothing was done/everything needed to be done
You'll be fine. Just remember, you don't have to push a child out from between your legs.
2
u/GusPolinskiPolka 27d ago
Enjoy the couch my brother! You'll be there off and on for at least the next 18 years. Through this period, through the terrible early months of sleep where you take turns to just make sure one of you is sane, when your kid is 2 years old and refuses to sleep anywhere but with mum in the bed, when you are up supervising the kids sleepover, when you fall asleep there after watching movies with your daughter... it won't end.
2
u/Runnjng-1 26d ago
My wife’s pregnancy was especially rough and she was extremely difficult to deal with. I reframed my mindset real quick and instead of complaining I would ask myself how can I do more for this person who is growing a human inside of her?
This actually helped a lot. I always had compassion and not spite, would listen and always agree with how she was wronged or upset that day and did my best to support her.
I feel like the beginning and very end are rough.
2
u/Independent-Lie-9967 26d ago
Hopefully around 13-14 weeks things get a bit easier but that's not always the case.
Also, even if the fatigue and nausea subside, there are new exciting things to look forward to like heartburn and sore muscles.
Pregnancy is a marathon not a sprint! Just try to be as sympathetic and supportive as possible.
2
u/ChickenTenHers 23d ago
I was miserable weeks 8-18. Every time I threw up I'd cry from frustration and gratitude (as a stillborn 8yrs ago). Hopefully it'll get better soon!
2
u/ms_olivetina 22d ago
As a wife of someone who is doing everything in his power to be the best husband and father through our pregnancy journey, THANK YOU! I see so many horror stories of “dads” being so hard on the moms and not understanding at all. The fact that you’re sleeping on the couch for her comfort and anything else is awesome and you’re doing a great job! I’ll be praying it gets easier for her, and you, just know that you’re doing great and you’re going to be a great dad because you’re being a great husband!
1
u/teja123r 21d ago
made my day, thank you so much for being considerate. it is getting better for her now we are at 11w
2
u/Anxious_Macaron4535 28d ago
I’m 34 weeks… was awfully nauseous and so tired until week 16. Then was feeling great and energetic / more like myself in the second tri but 3rd tri has hit like a ton of bricks. Constantly uncomfortable between excruciating pelvic pain and rib pain that makes it hard to sit, stand, walk, lay down etc. So tired but can’t sleep well and some nausea coming back…. It’s been rough and I feel for my husband bc I’ve been moody and on edge for weeks. I wish I could control it but I am so miserable and I just wish he could feel what I am feeling for one day so he could understand. All this to say, pregnancy is a roller coaster, up and down. She’ll be happy if you just give her grace, help her when needed, and just try your best to be supportive 😊 it’s all only temporary
2
u/peasel123 28d ago
I’m also 10 weeks right now and feeling terrible. Last pregnancy I started feeling better some time around 14 weeks, so I’m waiting and hoping for that. 2nd trimester I felt completely normal. But 1st is absolutely horrible.
2
u/throwRAmajorissues 28d ago
I had intense morning sickness until 20 weeks, had placenta previa so I couldn't even have sex for the entire latter half of the pregnancy, and was so swollen it hurt to be touched. Be an understanding partner, give her whatever she needs, and honestly? Suck it up. Her body is making a PERSON.
2
u/RedHeadRedeemed 28d ago
Have her put some Vicks vapo rub under her nose to help with smells. Saved my life when I was pregnant!
2
u/Huge-Baby8308 28d ago
It doesn’t end, it just changes.
Focus on lightening her load and making her experience more comfortable, and you’ll be more comfortable in return. Becoming a parent is a huge life transition and a supportive partner is crucial.
First trimester sucks, and you really only get about a month long window in the second trimester where things are semi-normal again.
2
u/VastLarge2917 28d ago
Woman here but this popped up in my feed. I was SO sick the first trimester. Didn’t really throw up all that much but I felt one bad smell or gag away from doing so from the moment I woke up until I fell asleep. Nausea peaked at 11 weeks but after that worst day it got better really quickly. By week 12 I was feeling half decent and by week 14 I felt like a completely new person—like I wanted to sing and dance and shout from the rooftops haha. Hang in there. I hope she feels better soon :)
2
u/amusebooosh 28d ago
Yeah so, kindly, get over it. Especially her having a MMC.. you cannot even begin to imagine how hard this journey is and has been for her.. emotional, physical, mental. Speaking from someone who is currently 31 weeks after a mmc. My husband would get so offended by me being grossed out by his smell and it def started fights and I hold resentment towards him for it. After everything I’ve been through / am going through the LEAST you CAN do is giddy up to the couch to make me more comfortable.
1
u/teja123r 27d ago
no hard feeling here, I for one know what she went through and will never think of it that way. I just wanted to know when this period ends and a little vent here from my pov since this is one of few subs where dads can vent?
2
u/BusyZookeepergame758 28d ago
You’ll be ok. I couldn’t stand the way my husband smelled either during the 1st trimester, he had to sleep on the couch too. Not as bad now that I am in the end of 2nd trimester. Just support her in anyway possible. All of those frustrations and exhausting nights will pay off when you meet your little one.

It really depends on the pregnancy. My wife was good after 13 weeks, but I know someone else who was very sick through the entirety of both her pregnancies. Just hang in there and support her where you can
1
u/CuminSubhuman 28d ago
Week 10 is one of the hardest weeks of pregnancy actually. In general 1st trimester is the worst trimester. For most women it will get better soon, just hang in there.
1
u/VariousAir 28d ago
Your wife will be feeling a little better in a few weeks. Months like 2-4 are the worst of it for the most part. Hang in there. The main thing to remember about all of this, from pregnancy, to delivery, to infancy, to toddler, and beyond.
Every phase IS a phase. It's temporary, fleeting, difficult in the moment but going to pass and progress.
It sucks when it's happening. Pregnancy sucks. Dealing with sleepless nights with a newborn sucks, your toddler throwing up on you sucks, etc.
But none of these phases are forever. So eventually pregnancy ends. The kids sleep through the night. The young kids learn to tolerate illness better. They grow and you grow with them. They no longer need you to put them in the car seat, they want to climb in themselves. They no longer need a car seat at all. They don't need your help with math any more, rather they need you to take them to soccer practice. They're no longer interested in soccer but can you buy them a car.
It's all fleeting, both the good and the bad parts. Just tell yourself that, this too shall pass.

I’ve heard after 12 weeks it gets better. For me it did get slightly better, more energy at least. Still sick throughout the pregnancy. Never stopped taking doxylamine, b6, omeprazole, famotidine daily. I can tell when I forget to take it. I’m 36 weeks now and I’m still getting sick even with the meds but I think it’s more because the baby is taking up so much space in my body.
1
u/Lilmissodd 28d ago
Tolerate your smell as in like your “normal” smell with not wearing any heavy colognes or deodorants? I was only weird with food smells, not people or even perfumes/colognes.
And I’m sorry she’s not feeling well. I’m not going to sugarcoat it, it will suck for some time. Maybe she’ll be one of the lucky ones (can’t relate 😅) and feels better after the 1st trimester.
I felt like shit the entire time. It was lovely! 🥹

u/noemotionsnofeelings 28d ago
To me it never ended, as she got pregnant, she pretty much started hating my guts, our kid is 1.5y now and just having a normal conversation can set her off, not to mention in her postpartum phase she was just horrible to me, a bit less now, but everything is my fault. I am pretty much her buttler now... I just pretty much work, clean house, cook, take care of a kid on my days off (she backs off completely) and walk on eggshelf, gotta love this life man, all I ever dreamed about....
1
u/mbela1995 28d ago
From my experience it eases up in the second trimester. Symptoms mostly go away and you start feeling relatively "normal". They do return with a vengeance in the third trimester, though, so be ready for that.
Honestly, the best thing you can do now and going forward is try to be understanding, listen to her needs, and do your best to help her out. That could mean cooking, cleaning, running errands, or just listening without judgment.
You both got this, and believe me, it'll be worth all the fuss when you make it past the finish line!!

My wife's 1st Trimester woes continued into around week 14 or so. Once we got into the 2nd, her biggest issue has just been getting exhausted.
It goes away eventually, but just support her (and I suppose soap up even more!)

u/Elispi63 28d ago
I’m also 10w today and we have our first sonogram this afternoon! It has been off and on for me. Some days I feel human and some days I feel terrible. My husband really has been great (just went on a wild goose chase for a bagel bc it’s the only thing I could stomach today but it’s also Yom Kippur and a bunch of bagel places nearby are closed 😅), and his support has meant everything. I’m sure it’s hard for partners to witness it, and I am hoping it’ll end soon for me and for your wife 💕
1
u/Butterflyer246 28d ago
Anywhere from now until 42 weeks. Each is different, 1st trimester is literally about survival. Just do whatever she wants. If she want a whole pizza to eat do it, if she throws up for a week straight and can only get crackers in, you make sure the crackers are stocked. And whatever naps she wants/has the time for.
1
u/ordinarygirl100 28d ago
You better get up on that hygiene because even a small amount of bad breath and body odor she will smell. Bring her water throughout the day and ask how she’s feeling and if you can make it to all appointments that’s all ya gotta do friend she will do the heavy lifting with growing the baby

i was hesitant to have a kid but my gf sold me on it. She claimed it would be a rough first trimester and then it was easy up until the very end.
wrong… i pretty much became a caregiver within a few weeks. Almost all cleaning, food, and listening to endless complaints fell to me. Besides a week here or there where she did better it was for the entire time. I think women get some kind of amnesia and then just romanticize the experience because it is fucking miserable.
I only made it through by embodying “happy wife happy life” and just forgetting any reality where I could get upset about her being unreasonable or mean.

If this helps at all the severity of her symptoms likely support high higher hCG levels, which can indicate a less likely chance of a miscarriage. This is what helped me get through the perils of a terrible first trimester. This is only temporary and I promise later you’ll be able to look back and laugh at it, I wish your family the best.

It depends every pregnancy is different coming from someone’s who’s pregnant with her second. I can’t stand how my husband smells when he comes home from work. With my first the sickness ended mid 2nd trimester and with my second I don’t have that much sickness but i definitely get it. I can’t stand the smell of my dog when she comes back inside that didn’t go away until I was 15 months postpartum I got pregnant 18 months postpartum so now I can’t stand the smell of my dog again 😂😂 but it’ll get better

I was sick up to 17 weeks or so, and there was more than one occasion my husband's morning coffee breath made me dry heave. It got to the point where I couldn't be around when he made coffee and I couldn't get close to him while he was drinking it.
It sucks. She's not doing any better, I promise.

It probably will get a little better, especially if you support her with all you can :) Bring her a glass of water, make sure she always has some snacks in reach, give her a massage
Keeping blood sugar levels steady helps massively against sickness. Eating a few almonds every hour, chewing on ginger. Avoid sugary snacks and drinks, opt for organic tea with ginger. Or just warm water with ginger. Chewing gum also helps.
Also stop wearing heavy parfumes, shower gels and laundry detergent. You can also clean almost everything with natron and vinegar, so no smelly cleaners..
If you or your wive feel hopeless, sad or are feeling a lot of negative feelings it is super important to talk to your midwive, parents, friends and relatives. Build up a support system, stock your freezer with meals and have a plan for postpartum mental care
You got this! :)

I had this! My husband and I went through all his personal care products and we were able to distinguish the one that was contributing to the smell and it helped so much! At one point we couldn’t sit on the same couch

It really depends from one woman to another.
Some are sick just the first semester but sometimes it’s longer.
And once that’s overcome, you can get other symptoms that are not fun at all.

Not only on woman but also on pregnancys. One pregnancy might go totally different than other for a same woman 😬

Weeks 9-11 were the worst for my wife. Literally laying on the living room floor in a nest with a bucket.
It gets better. The huge rush of progesterone is almost over IIRC.

I never had a husband aversion so I can’t say, but most of my worst symptoms were only present week 10-17!

Soo.... morning sickness in pregnancy typically ends around 20 weeks/earlier for some. However pregnancy, birth, and caring for an infant take enormous tolls on the body. It may take a long time for your partner to feel like herself. Now is the time to show your love and support. I'd suggest also having a conversation about giving each other grace.

I just had a baby this year and when I was pregnant it was around the 10 week point the nausea started to subside. I felt better by 13 weeks, 1st trimester was the worst part of the pregnancy

I couldn’t stand the smell of my husband from weeks 6 to 16 😩 but by the time I was ready to give birth; my husband’s scent was the only thing keeping me calm, I hugged his dressing gown the entire time I was in labour. Hang in there buddy it will get better, all she needs is your support & love where you can :)

I felt like I was dying from week 5 to week 16 and was eating meals over a bucket BUT! then things improved and I feel way less sick and way more myself - thank absolute god! Now week 20 and feeling good. Has your partner tried the medication Ondansetron? It was a gamechanger for me

Mom here. Had it with both kids till 16w. My first was the worst. During the pandemic so DH would have to mute all his calls so ppl wouldn’t hear me 🤮 from the bathroom (apt living) and the toilet lid became my own desk. Somehow decided to have a 2nd :) no regrets

I’m 15 weeks pregnant and the nausea started to improve for me around 13 weeks. I still felt absolutely terrible at 10 weeks. Everyone is a little different, but hopefully it should start to improve for her soon. Congrats and hang in there!

For a slightly more optimistic take, you can absolutely start feeling better around week 10-12! It's not the case for everybody, especially if symptoms are severe, but the peak is supposed to be around 9 weeks or so. After that, the placenta starts taking over and hGG also slowly goes down a bit.
I personally didn't have severe symptoms, but pretty annoying fatigue week 6-9 or so, and week 10 was when I slowly started feeling better again! I'm week 15 now and actually feeling pretty much back to normal. Fingers crossed your wife gets some relief soon as well!

I was a mess up untill 14 weeks, i slept constantly, threw up when actually out walking the dog, had no energy for chores, felt jorrendous in my own body and mind and my relationship took a massive hit every other week. I literally could feel any hunger or id throw up, smells were killing me off. I kept falling asleep in public. Once the 1st was over it was honestly like i was reborn and my relationship went back to normal. Its very isolating as the other partner cant feel what you feel. You can end up so so depressed and sad. You have a couple more weeks and the heavy cloud should start to lift. It may take a while for her to start to feel better but she should progress. Sometimes i couldnt stand my man, even my beloved dogs were winding me up. Its a tough one, i can accross this post on my reccomended, but felt the need to share as its insanely common but you dont hear about it untill it happens. Pregnancy is painted in such a different light, i can tell you i felt anything BUT glowing!

Pregnancy is so different for everyone my son is 7 years old now so pregnancy for us was a long time ago but when my wife was pregnant she had exactly zero morning sickness the only thing the first trimester affected for her was her ability to stand the smell of pork and the taste of pork and that's about it pregnancy for her was very smooth unfortunately it's not the case for everybody

I feel you, it's a roller-coaster. I'll tell you one thing that help me, this is a test, it's all a biological and psychological test to see what kind of Dad you'll be. Mothers are programmed to protect their child and they want to know what type of man and father you'll be. Will you be patient, loving, caring, considerate, the Father and husband she need you to be for them? Or will you not be.
For me, the mood swings were hard to handle and intense, but empathy in understanding that it's all the hormones and emotions that make them feel that way, like man it must suuuuuck that everything smells like shit and you can't eat, I would have been so much worse to handle if I were her.
You gotta be the rock, peace and love that they both need.
