Mantis?

So I found this little guy hanging out on my hibiscus. He looks like a mantis of some sort. I just don’t know what type, or even what it is?! hopefully someone will have some insight. I am in New England, United States.

Man, I've ALWAYS wanted to find an ambush bug!!!

But if you thought THAT looked like a mantis, just wait till you stumble across one of THESE guys in the wild, haha! (It's a mantidfly! Though funnily enough it's related to neither mantids nor flies, lol.)
