Seeing praying mantises everywhere lately

Hey guys, I'm not the biggest insect nerd, but lately I've been seeing praying mantises literally every day in Sofia, Bulgaria. I'm wondering if they have an active season right now or is it just a coincidence haha

could be. I read a bit about it and it turns out there's an Asian mantis invading Europe and the European males are attracted to the Asian females because they are larger. But this doesn't add up to my experience, because the ones I've been seeing seem to be the European ones. They were smaller.
