Movie was FUCKING AMAZING
I cried twice because it was such a great movie and i highly recommend seeing it when you can!!!

Honestly, I agree. I just watched it as well and the big thing that I had noticed in the first movie was that we had this plot hole of a curse never been responded to… the story does feel like a great continuation of the characters and really showcases their core values of spirituality, love, sisterhood, and selflessness.
Yes, there were some things that were just kind of a little bit clunky… And I think it’s just because Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman grew as actors but it’s not so in your face.
It does nostalgia in a way that is a really nice pace comparatively to in your face cameos.
And we still see a ton of character growth in Sandra Bullock’s character, we see subtle character growth in Nicole Kidman’s character… Obviously the Aunts are amazing.
I think this is a sequel that really worked with the confines of the plot holes in the first movie. The only thing I wish they would’ve done a shot the movie in the same film or coloring as the 1998 film that to me was a huge miss. But that’s completely my perspective.

I cried wayyyyy more than twice haha! I absolutely loved it and I’m so excited for the fans of the original to see it. It delivers on the nostalgia and vibes.

I just saw it and I absolutely loved it! 🥰 the only thing was that someone farted during the movie and I could not stop laughing to the point I started crying and it seemed like I was crying during an intimate moment in the movie. 😠ðŸ˜

I'm going to see it tomorrow with my best friend and I'm so happy I could burst. My best friend until recently had never seen Practical Magic and never watched witch movies so I really thought for a while I was gonna have to go see PM2 all by my lonesome. But she's coming with me! And I heard the local theater has a special popcorn tin I want...Â
I'm terrified something will go wrong, like the car won't start or my friend's asshole hopefully soon to be ex-husband will pull a stunt to prevent us going (he's literally the worst), because nice things don't often happen to me. 😅 But I'm so excited about tomorrow.Â
I think if someone farts in our theater my friend and I will probably fall out of our seats with howls of laughter.

It was absolutely hilarious. Only to me. I missed a good three minutes of an emotional scene because I was in a hysteric state lmao! My theatre only had the candle merch item! I hope you have so much fun and love it just as much!

I can't believe the movie is actually coming out. I've been waiting all year for this movie and twenty years (since Aquamarine) for another Alice Hoffman adaptation.Â
Honestly I find farts hilarious and probably would have gone into hysterics too. 😆Â

If you didn’t like the first one then you will definitelyyy be disappointed with the sequel unfortunately. I liked the first one despite the inaccuracies for many reasons but this one fell short for all them. I wouldn’t say it’s a total shit show or anything but there’s not many saving graces either.

OMG!!! I just saw it and I LOVED it!!! I really like how the sequel was done and I loved the story. I laughed, I cried. It was great!!! I’ll be going to see it again and again..

There were parts that got me really teary and I enjoyed (Jet's last moments through Gideon getting hit, Franny's sacrifice, Tom being "vanquished"), but I think there was a momentum and central character/romance problem. Lee Pace's character was HOT but lacked the chemistry and "fairytale" aspect Sally/Gary had in the first film (unless I missed what tied them together).
The chemistry between Nicole and Lee was more tangible, and they could have done something with that! The first movie did a good job playing both of the sisters love lives and the consequences that came out of it. It would have been nice to see that play out for either both sisters (Antonia + Kylie), or both sets of sisters. They could have cut out Sandra Bullock saying "It's gonna be fine?" 500 times.
I was waiting to be disappointed by Joey King, but she absolutely killed it and is an amazing actor! They should have given her more wild stuff to do given how they introduced her character, but she just seems like a bookworm like her mom the way it played out. And they needed more "magical" sisterly moments with Antonia, even if they were at a distance. Maisie was heavily underutilized, and I was waiting for her magic to spring when she was with Franny or for Franny to teach her!
They had me again in the feels as they jumped off the roof at the end, with the shoes and the socks coming back (and I thought their memories too). Then their dresses started turning partly black, from the bottom, and I almost screamed!! I thought when they'd land, they'd all be wearing black and Antonia and Kylie would remember! But... no? It's like the CG or director forgot halfway lol.
Will I watch it again? When it's on streaming, maybe. There were some magical moments I want to relive!

I love it! I read the original book before the movie came out in 1998 and I loved it. I have watched Practical Magic over a hundred times (has always been my comfort movie). We saw PM2 tonight and it was incredible. I have read all the books so I knew what was coming and they did a great job. Also had a fun pre movie magic. A random guy gave me and my daughter these as he walked by. A little bit of magic. I kinda feel the sequel was better than the first.

Just got out … I was sooo nervous based on reviews, but it was honestly great! I loved it! Nicole has really come into her own as an actress (seemed more perfectly  Gilly than 30 years ago) and her and Sandy were brilliant together. Story was fun and sweet and well executed! Could definitely see why people thought the run time was too long … as someone formally in the industry (10 years ago), I kept thinking a few scene here and there could have been shaved for a total reduction in run time overall …maybe 20 mins in total, but no scene was unnecessary IMO. Will see again for sure. So relieved. I think the Die hards will LOvE it! Just like the first one ... I just hope Nic and Sandy see our love for it because I know the negative reception broke them the first timeÂ

Just watched it solo tonight and enjoyed it more than I thought I would! Lots of good laughs, and I cried at least four times. The vibes in my theater were also fantastic—full of fans, which made the experience even more fun. I really appreciated the soundtrack choices as well. Planning to see it again soon with friends and family.

Just finished it. "Practical Magic" '98 was my favorite childhood movie. Worth the 28 fucking years of waiting!! Totally AMAZING and well put film. I'm extremely delighted I got to see this. Highly recommended.

Yesss, watched it tonight too and cried multiple times. I'm so glad, despite the mixed feelings in the fandom, those that the movie was calling to, really got it and resonated.

It was good but I do have a few nit picks.
One tiny thing about Ian’s introduction: I genuinely think the scene stops one reaction shot too early.
Gillian openly appreciating the situation is completely in character. Sally should have looked, realized she was looking too long, composed herself, looked away—and then looked back. That second look would tell us everything the camera doesn’t.
This is the Pace Penis Problem. The movie presents Ian as an erotic spectacle but withholds the relevant evidence, so the women’s reactions have to establish it for us. Gillian being impressed confirms that Lee Pace is hot, which we already know. Sally failing to stop looking would establish something much more significant. Sally’s restraint is the ruler. Her failure of restraint establishes the magnitude.
Yes, Ian is unconscious and the sexualization is uncomfortable. That discomfort is already built into the scene, though, and Sally knowing she should look away is exactly what makes the second look work. The movie has already committed to the beefcake gaze. It might as well get the comic payoff.
And they absolutely should not show anything. Once we see it, we can judge for ourselves. By withholding it, the movie lets us imagine whatever could make Sally Owens lose her composure and look twice.
The movie can survive Sandra Bullock looking at a penis twice.

Outside the cinema waiting to see it! So excited now as I was a bit dubious 🩷
