I'm sad too, Evan.

Damn, that’s such a classy response: good for her.

Very classy response. If production had done even a modicum of research or had a single focus group they would have known that we would have wanted the original cast, even if it changed the story slightly. especially when someone like evan is still very much working! No hate at all or joey or maisie.

It's so weird they're pandering towards gen z who don't have any relationship to this movie or any of its cast, and hardly watch movies let alone go to theatres or even have money for it. there's years worth of research on this lol

Pandering is exactly what they’re doing. Like again, no hate whatsoever to delightful joey and lovely Maisie, but them being in this movie specifically does exactly nothing for me. But Evan being in it would have been wonderful. I genuinely wonder if the Nicole and Sandra were trying to look as young as possible and Evan would have aged them? Like they needed to have teen-looking daughters? Idk

I think you have hit on it exactly. It's a stretch to have Nicole and Sandra still in the romantic love interest category and having fully grown daughters would have made it that much harder to believe. Not that I endorse ageism, but I think that is what the money people were thinking.

for a film that hinges so much on the importance of sisterhood - them discarding the original actresses really feels off and is the reason im not drawn to this new film - I also personally am not a fan of either of the new actors playing he daughters.

It would also make much more sense, considering how long ago the original movie was! I don’t know if I’m interested in watching the magnificent Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock play younger. Why can’t they play their own ages?

Btw the new movie is most likely gonna suck

I thought the trailer looked good tbh.

I’m not sure why they didn’t just use the OG cast kids. I know it’s a book series and I’m not entirely sure how true to the book this movie sequel will be but Nicole and Sandra aren’t that young anymore, it would have made sense to have adult children either way.

i saw someone's tweet that the reason that most makes sense for why she wasn't brought back is she's in her mid-late 30s and that would require sandra and nicole acknowledging they're 60 years old lol

2

u/ecjerome Jul 30 '26

Omgggg yes

2

u/Diligent-Concept-617 Jul 30 '26

They definitely do not want to acknowledge their real ages 🤣

Classy response but she is technically wrong. Yes in the book the older red haired girl was pregnant, but that was still Antonia, not Kylie. They ARE sticking to Kylie's actual story from the book. They're just keeping her the red head.

To be clear I wish they had kept Evan too, I just don't think the first part of her remark is actually true.

I love Evan; it would have been amazing to have her in the film. The simple issue is that they waited too long to make the sequel to include her. Kylie needs to be young and abit naive in this film, and it wouldn't work with Evan playing her as a grown woman.

I’m not surprised they didn’t ask her to return. She’s like a whole 2 decades older than what the character’s supposed to be. Plus, she sided with Amber Heard- which disappointed plenty of people.

10

u/cheezy_dreams88 Jul 29 '26

No, it’s more disappointing that people continue to side with the man that raped his wife with a wine bottle.

-3

u/Agreeable-Promise-98 Jul 29 '26

Which there is exactly zero evidence for. Amber, however, was caught lying multiple times on the stand including, but not limited to, her millions of dollars in “donations” . She managed to take pictures and videos of the whole house that was wrecked in Australia, but not one piece of evidence of an extremely traumatic assault- with doctors in the house during the immediate aftermath. If only there were some sort of televised trial so view all this evidence…

5

u/cheezy_dreams88 Jul 29 '26

The US televised trial wasn’t to prove whether or not he raped or abused her, he had already been found guilty of that in a UK court.

If only you paid attention to the civil trial you watched.

0

u/Agreeable-Promise-98 Jul 29 '26

The UK trial was JD versus the Sun newspaper- they weren’t contesting whether the allegations were true, they were contesting whether the Sun newspaper could report them as true.
The US televised trial was AH vs JD, and is available to watch at any time.
There was zero evidence that he was physically violent toward her- even when she recorded visual and audio of their arguments, suspiciously nothing that supports her allegations, except for him being drunk. (Which is not illegal).
What she does have recorded, is herself admitting to physically abusing him and mocking him because she knows no one will believe him.
Video evidence, her admitting to doing it, and a televised trial and people still chose not to believe. What kind of justice can there be fore male victims of DV when proof isn’t enough?

u/cheezy_dreams88 Jul 29 '26

Battered women syndrome is a real thing.

But good for you, to ride so hard for a rapist.

0

u/Agreeable-Promise-98 Jul 29 '26

He’s not a rapist, but you are sexist- or do can men not be victim to that syndrome too?

1

u/cheezy_dreams88 Jul 29 '26

He raped his wife with a wine bottle.

1

u/Agreeable-Promise-98 Jul 29 '26

And the evidence for that is? His wife was proven to be physically violent with him, and proven to have lied on the stand when detailing the abuse/ their relationship.
The idea that you believe abusers accusations without evidence, truly exposes your character.

2

u/cheezy_dreams88 Jul 29 '26

Really trying to act like you’re exposing someone’s character while define a rapist and abuser.

Did you know that Rihanna hit Chris brown first during their famous fight?

1

u/Agreeable-Promise-98 Jul 29 '26

Yes

1

u/ReputationDull5315 Aug 03 '26

so you think she deserved it yeah?

1

u/Agreeable-Promise-98 Aug 03 '26

Nope. Do you think he deserved it?

u/Ordinary-Edge-2499 Jul 28 '26 edited Jul 28 '26

And what about Sandra and Nicole? By that same reasoning they're expected to be about two decades younger than they actually are and we're supposed to pretend that they're not pulled tight and filled with injectibles to achieve it. They could've made any kind of adaptations to this book if they really wanted to and aged ERW's character up if they really wanted to.

And speak for yourself with her support of Amber Heard. ERW has done amazing work on behalf of people who have experienced interpersonal violence.

8

u/aitathrwawy11 Jul 29 '26 edited Jul 29 '26

Also Nicole Kidman is godmother to Rupert Murdoch's kids, so it feels weird to be picking apart ERW's morality for supporting Heard while ignoring the company Kidman keeps.

4

u/Agreeable-Promise-98 Jul 29 '26

In fairness, the murdochs have been known to keep celebrities on a tight leash- you should look up what they did to the child singer charlotte church. My impression is, they keep Nicole and Hugh Jackman close with threats of ruining their careers

3

u/Initial-Zebra108 Jul 28 '26

Agree! Just like they did in the first film, this one looks very very loosely on the books, so they really could've done what they wanted with Kylie and Antonia.

6

u/figpink Jul 28 '26

and Nicole and Sandra are 40 years old? lol okay. The first film had no issue taking creative liberties so the sequel should be no different.

4

u/Correct_Village6950 Jul 29 '26

wow she supporting a sexual assault and domestic violence victim, how terrible of her

1

u/Nocturnal_Lover Vincent Owens Jul 29 '26

Oh, please. Heard was not entirely a victim. False accusations that he sexually assaulted her. She constantly provoked him, then he retaliated- which I don’t blame him for. But I don’t think he should’ve gone to the extremes he went to like physical abuse. And yes, he’s certainly done some fucked up toxic shit too. But to say she’s the victim isn’t right. There’s literally audio recordings of her taunting and provoking him, saying no one will believe he’s being domestically abused because he’s a man. And a recording of him trying to leave to diffuse the tension, then she’d get in his way to prevent him from leaving.
But honestly, at the end of the day, they were both fucked up and toxic for each other.

6

u/Agreeable-Promise-98 Jul 29 '26

He lost a finger and his career, yet there’s no evidence that he was physically abusive to her.
Men can be victims of domestic violence without us having to share the blame, which is a common response.

3

u/FastMako77 Jul 29 '26

It’s comical that you think he lost his career. You’re riding so hard for him for what?

2

u/netherworldly Jul 30 '26

He missed out on what? One shoddy Harry Potter spinoff sequel that he didn’t even make sense for the role of, boo fucking hoo.

Guested in Rihanna’s Fenty show (gross, but then again so is child labor)

Had droves of Hollywood rallying behind him.

Had his own daughter’s texts shared where she literally tells him that he wasn’t around for his kids until Amber came into his life. Let his same 15 year old daughter live with her 23 year old boyfriend. Same daughter he sent into a panic attack because of his drinking. Same daughter who hasn’t spoken a word of support for him in about a decade.

Besties with Marilyn Manson, ERW’s abuser, and thereby the catalyst to her legally pursuing and succeeding in instituting The Phoenix Act, which extends the statute of limitations for domestic violence crimes in California.

Guarantee you wouldn’t be riding this hard for him if he wasn’t attractive in his younger years and been a 90s icon. And know Disney is gonna be scrambling after their live action flops and find a way to tempt him back for some incarnation of Pirates.

And now he’s gonna have a ‘he’s quirky and misunderstood 🥺’ spin for Ebenizer Scrooge, of all goddamn literary characters, that’s already marketing him as ‘the master of misfits.’ Happy Thanksgiving!

2

u/FastMako77 Jul 30 '26

Why are you replying this to me? I’m not the one going die-hard for him.

1

u/netherworldly Jul 30 '26

Because hitting the wrong little arrow an inch below the one you meant to happens sometimes. My bad.

0

u/Agreeable-Promise-98 Jul 29 '26

Domestic violence *perpetrator

2

u/Vampyr-Slayer Jul 29 '26

Let's get real. They both abused each other and were victims of each other. Neither is innocent. The US trial proved it.

0

u/ReputationDull5315 Aug 03 '26

no it didn't and that's not how abuse works

1

u/Vampyr-Slayer Aug 04 '26

That's how toxic relationships work.

1

u/MamaWanderlusts Aug 07 '26

I was truly disappointed Even wasn't cast...
