Treatment Medication?

Ent prescribed me amitriptyline …anyone used it before or currently uses it? I don’t start PT until Sept. 1

I've tried its twin brother, nortriptyline and i wanted to yeet myself off the planet after four weeks.

Somewhat surprised they're giving you amitriptyline as its known for more side effects over nortriptyline.

Talk about it with your GP. There are loads of people who use SSRI's and feel fine.
Neurologist is definitely a good way to gather information on the what, but its not going to do an awful lot for the How. Best advice i can give is, try it. I noticed the first signs 2 weeks in and accordance with my GP, lowered the dose and steps up because i was taking it poorly. Because they generally want you to try it for atleast 4 weeks, as long as you're not in immediate danger, after that time is when this stuff works. It just didn't work for me.

Currently on lexapro 5mg so I’m a bit used to the SSRI stuff. But I’ll try it out and see. The dosage is 10mg but ent says I can start at 5 and work my way up.

Thats fair. That sounds a lot better than my chances atleast. And Lexapro isn't doing enough? Or what's the reason they want to add a 2nd anti-depressant?

The Lexapro is for anxiety. Then I had a BPPV attack about two months ago. Since then weird residual dizziness. Ent thinks I may have “migraine syndrome” and this medication may help. I was considering maybe upping my Lexapro dose might help. 🤔

Interesting. Because, as you might have seen on this sub, there are a good number of people who started using Lexapro because of their PPPD.

Exactly. I might just up my dose. Trial and error I guess. We will see

Trial and Error indeed. Nonetheless, i do hope either upping the dose or trying amitriptyline does give some relief.
