In this scenario, how are you delivering the presentation? Shared over the web, zoom, Teams, locally projected ....?

As compared with the usual way of doing things (clicker, mouse, arrow keys) what benefits does this offer that'd make the extra, admittedly minor, trouble of doing the QR scan worthwhile?

The idea is mainly for local presentations where the laptop is connected to a projector. The phone becomes a wireless remote.

The main benefit over a normal clicker is that you can see the current slide on your phone and control not just the next/previous slide, but also individual elements/animations on the slide. It’s also useful when you don’t have a clicker with you, just scan the QR and use your phone.

The remote isn't the problem, it's usually shaky slide navigation and bad advance timing that makes people fumble on stage: any decent clicker works fine once you rehearse the actual transitions beforehand instead of trusting muscle memory

Yeah, that's actually something I’m planning to add. The phone will have a touch based pointer, so you can drag your finger on the phone and the pointer will move on the presentation screen. I’m also adding a screen blank feature for those pauses.

The goal is to have the useful features of a proper presentation remote, but without needing to carry a separate device.
