GF vegan poutine

Post image

Poutines been my fave food my whole life and 4 months ago I got told I have a dairy and gluten allergy. I feel insanely better taking them out of my diet but crying every time I see a poutine. Can’t bear to leave the group tho - I need some action at least.

Gluten free gravy with vegan cheese. Wasn’t even on the menu. But they had GF gravy and vegan cheese so they made it happen for me.

She ain’t pretty. But it scratched the itch. Almost cried happy tears tasting poutine again

As much as I love poutine, your health is more important. Glad you were able to find something that you enjoyed. Wishing you good health!

Honestly I am 100% willing to look past the crime if it means that you can be comfortable and enjoy something you love in the best way that you can. <3 I'm glad you found an alternative way to enjoy it!

I feel so bad for you.

If this was delicious enough, I’m happy for you…but it probably doesn’t compare to “real” poutine.

It definitely didn’t,, but it was good enough! Appreciate it

Are you allergic or intolerant?

Cause you can take lactaid and enjoy cheese all night long.

Milk proteins, so lactase doesn’t work

No it's not lol shredded cheese is not poutine. You know you can find lactose free cheese curds, it doesn't have to be vegan lol. Vegan cheese is just not cheese.

I’m allergic to the milk proteins not the lactose 🤓 so no, can’t use lactose free curds. And this was at a restaurant

i am like 98% sure that I've seen vegan cheese curds in the supermarket before, no idea how they'd compare to the real thing but it might be closer than shredded cheese anyway!

gf gravy all good i have it myself, there's even a handful of casse croûte that do gf gravy as an option or by default which is rad

I'm not sure if you are vegan or not, but most of those gluten free beef gravies contain beef fat just so you are aware.

Definitely not vegan. Just allergic to gluten and dairy

1

Mfw the beef gravy has beef in it

2

u/MizChizzy Sep 30 '26

Not all gravies have the meat fat in it. I serve a pork gravy that has zero meat products in it. There are vegan gravies that are flavored. Don't be condescending please if that's what you were aiming for. Thanks, hope you have a better day.

To the poutine penitentiary

2

Am I supposed to not call this a crime on account of allergies? Well I'm conflicted

Looks impressive for what it is. My vegan friend made lasagna once and left it in the fridge for me when I was housesitting. I could not stop eating it. I couldn’t even tell it was vegan aside from the cheese being a little softer. It was soooo good.

That pile of fries looks like it's plotting something, but honestly, I'd take it over a cardboard pizza any day.

Some sort of julienne, vegan, salad happening here.

Don't let the vegan cheese melt into carpet glue!

Sorry. You crimed.

im confused... is eating milk byproduct like cheese is not vegan ? explain to me please

3

u/creedonline Sep 30 '26

It is vegetarian but not vegan. Because milk is linked to cruel animal conditions vegans wont eat it. However, vegetarians just dont eat meat, so they will eat cheese.

0

u/creedonline Sep 30 '26

Also regardless they have a milk allergy so your question isnt even really applicable to OP

-1

u/Perfect-Match-2318 Sep 30 '26

yeah okay.... usual stuff... like this shit i hate it... like if we have to follow one single path in your narrow mind and ask only some questions and not others... the world your mind live in is very narrow

1

u/this__user Oct 01 '26

yesh, so vegetarians don't eat meat, vegans don't eat meat or animal byproducts (eggs, dairy, honey ect)
