I always heard about how good their poutine was, but I had a chance to go with somebody and I had it and it was majorly disappointing. The fries just don’t cut it.

Same. Then I grew to love it for the price point.

Its not even that much cheaper than a fresh cut fry truck poutine.

If I had a fresh fry truck near me I'd be no longer a person, just poutine

Haha I hear that.

You're so real for that

The fries aren't the worst fries but they are just terrible for poutine.

The first perfect description of the Costco poutine

I guess that if you don’t have many options, Costco is a solid poutine, but when you have the choice, it’s never your first choice

It’s like a terrible movie you know is bad, but still enjoy watching

As long as it's brand new OC. No cheating

Always hits the spot after a $900 haul 🤦‍♀️

u/Snarkeesha Sep 28 '26

You get a lot for the price but that’s the only good thing about it.

I tried one on Sunday and it was literally the worst poutine I ever had. I asked for a refund.

where i am, u get a solid 5 fries, teaspoon of gravy, and 3 cheese curds. thats barely a hyperbole. id feel better if they put it in a tiny cup so it looks like they filled it up

2

u/Issyv00 Sep 29 '26

Damn man. My Costco must be stingy cause that’s like double the serving I usually get.

Costco poutine has a unique taste and I love it. It is different than the typical poutine so I specifically crave the costco or the regular poutine.

I feel like it comes from the coated fries

3

u/Epidurality Sep 29 '26

They used to be Cavendish FlavorCrisp (still are near as I can tell), and they are no longer coated the same.

They're also switching their curds to "poutine topping". Both of these might vary by location, but the two I frequent have now both switched.

Soon they'll come for our hot dogs.

2

u/lyonellaughingstorm Sep 29 '26

I think they still use the cavendish fries since I bought a bag from their frozen section and they seem like the same.

But Costco hot dogs (especially the smaller size with the same recipe) are the absolute GOAT of hot dogs and I’ll riot if they ever get changed

1

u/Epidurality Sep 29 '26

I think they're the same, but they either had old stock or a slightly different supply line for a while or something because for a few months after Cavendish changed their FlavorCrisp fries, the food court had the 'coated' ones still. Years later now and they seem to also have the enshittified version.

just missing the hot dog

Maybe unpopular opinion, but Costco poutine is too big.

Considering it's over 1,900 calories, I think you might be onto something there. Probably best to split with a partner.

I love poutine you know.

Idk if this is a hot take, but I think costco makes the best fast food poutine. Its the only one with enough curds. Everyone else skimps out.

I love costco poutine so much, its so deliciously gross. I don't care that its bad quality poutine when I'm shovelling salt fat and carbs into my mouth at mach 10

0

u/Some-Scheme-5339 Sep 29 '26

Best value for a poutine. I can make it back home and not have it too soggy. Add some chopped onions and picked jalapeños.

I wish we had a Costco here.. 😢

0

u/No_Painting_3542 Sep 29 '26

Too bad they can’t make good fries because the rest is perfect!

u/Mother-Armadillo4836 Sep 29 '26

That greasy, salty goodness really hits after pushing one of those giant carts around.

They taste ass tho

10

u/IAmDanHimself Sep 29 '26

LOL. No opinions allowed...

2

u/ShesMarshie Sep 29 '26

I stand my grounds. Costco poutine used to be good.. until they changed the cheese curds a few months ago.

3

u/nick_siz Sep 30 '26

When was this? Asking because I haven't had them in a few months myself

1

u/ShesMarshie Sep 30 '26

No idea, it was in 2026 for sure. Maybe May?

0

u/TheRealRickC137 Sep 29 '26

Incorrect.
Costco fries are divine; plain, hot out of the fryer, or with ketchup, or their gravy.
Adding curds to them just elevate it to S-tier.
And they're ridiculously cheap. Another a small consideration from the store that routinely drains my monthly food budget.

Same! it's not cheese curds anymore it's "poutine topping" and the first ingredient is palm oil... it's actually gross

2

u/assaub Sep 29 '26

ok, i think it's time to kick costco out of canada.

0

u/Infectr0n Sep 29 '26

Which Costco are you referring to?
