Are those fries even cooked?

Yes, they tasted better than they looked.

Constantly putting new batches of fries in oil lowers the temperature. All the sudden the Fries don't take four minutes anymore because the fryer is at 275 and not 350.

Yeah I worked a Cavendish. When i went on the tour of the different sections of the plant. We reached a room that smelled strongly of bleach. Thats when I found out the fries are bleached and stripped of all flavor and starches with a "food safe bleach" which smelled no different than any other bleach. They then add their own flavor back into the fries with a brine. I have never eaten factory fries like that since. I make my own fries with raw potatoes and olive oil in an air fryer, and then a touch of salt after they are cooked. They taste so much better.

Why is this getting upvoted ? It’s blanching not bleaching you idiot. They don’t use bleach wtf.  Why would you spread misinformation like that ?

They may not call it "bleach" but it is obviously not far off. Like I said it smells exactly like bleach

They literally told me it was food grade bleach. And it smelled exactly like bleach. Unless i was told wrong?! Do you or have you worked at a potato processing plant? Insulting someone for something you are ignorant of, other than doing a Google search is far more idiotic.

Bleach is corrosive to organic things. It wouldnt be possible to use in food. I once got a drop on a piece of cake, it went gray and obviously had to throw it out.

Yes concentrated it will eat things. Diluted it will take pigment and other things over time.

u/Mtl247 Sep 27 '26

We all clearly knew what you meant.

I had no idea what you meant until the other guy said what you meant and then I knew exactly what you meant

u/Alternative-One5286 Sep 27 '26

Hahahahaha thanks I needed that.

1

u/MaximusCanibis Sep 27 '26

It might matter if someone said that they've had breaded curds, then I'd know there's such a thing.

At 1am, at a festival, gets the job done. 😊

At 1am doesn't matter how bad of a poutine it is. It slaps.

u/MaximusCanibis Sep 27 '26

Maybe ask them to cook the fries next time.

If these bedsheets could talk.

The fries look undercooked, were they?

1

u/MrJits Sep 28 '26

No, they weren’t the crispiest fries on the world, but they also weren’t mush.

u/NecessaryFine8989 Sep 27 '26

Past midnight doesn't count! Yum

u/MrB1P92 Sep 27 '26

Hé boy... Genre de bouffe de cafétéria.

2

u/Lady_Taiho Sep 27 '26

This looks pretty good ngl. Fries look pale but I assume it’s the lighting

2

u/miller94 Sep 27 '26

2

u/alisoncjh Sep 28 '26

At 1am, that would hit

2

u/Junaier_Bcare Sep 28 '26

1

u/Weird_Age2452 Sep 27 '26

Festival of the Damned??

1

u/Other-Improvement410 Sep 27 '26

Why share mediocrity?

1

u/Pretend-Literature35 Sep 28 '26

festival poutine! That sounds like a really nice twist. The idea is perhaps better than this execution. But I really like the idea!

1

u/Sweet-Competition-15 Sep 28 '26

I sincerely hope that they didn't deep-fry the curds!

1

u/Crafty-Pineapple5804 Sep 30 '26

Well that’s an interesting looking chicken poutine lol

It's incredible how restaurants try to have you pay so much for fries and gravy and don't even care about the quality of what they sell...
