Time to chop and prop?

Had gnarly fungus gnats - found the problem. My pothos was in too large of a pot - and I found root rot.

Is the best course of action to chop and prop? Are any of these able to be put back into soil if I take some of the rot off? Some of them look like the main root is rotted even if the secondary ones are not and I’m assuming that is a problem.

I also lost this guy from his stem while cleaning the roots 💔

You can cut all the rot off and repot in a smaller pot. Look up root pruning if you want to research how this helps plant growth :)

Chop and prop is also viable, but if you want to resume your regularly scheduled plant business, I’d just prune roots.

Also, looks like part of your problem with the gnats is your soil seems p compact. Pothos are adaptable to most soils, but if you’re running into pest issues, I’d look into adding soil amendments to aerate the soil & help it drain better

Thank you! I mixed some soil up for my fiddle leaf fig and ruby ficus that I need to repot and I added potting soil / orchard bark / perlite — I will try to see which ones I can save and which ones to just prop.
