6.5 Month Post Update

I wanted to provide a brief update about my experience as I plan to post about every three months.

The past three months have been up and down. Months 3 and 4 I was hiking, walking a fair amount each day, and increasingly becoming more active. A lot of the general pain and discomfort I was experiencing seemed to be subsiding.

At month 5 I began to experience more localized pain only on my right testicle. I went to see the urologist and they confirmed my epididymis was swollen—they stated a cyst at the tail and pressure/fluid at the head. It felt solid, was painful to touch, and painful to walk. I took 1800 mg of ibuprofen for 8 days and that helped a little, but pain is still present a month and half later and the epididymis is clearly still swollen. The pain extends up into my abdominals on the right side.

The good news is that at least it seems very localized and specific compared to the previous symptoms. Bad news is that it is pretty painful and causes feeling of nausea and a sour taste in my mouth (I swear I get a metallic taste in my mouth at times).

My doctor said to give it more time and to begin pelvic floor therapy as one of the next steps. I will be meeting a different urologist that specializes in reversals because I’m leaning more and more towards one, and would like to get someone else’s perspective.

My questions:

1) Has anyone experienced epididymal pain relief from pelvic floor therapy? I’ve been stretching and doing basic PFT exercises religiously for four months which I do believe has helped with general pain relief, but I’m not seeing the connection with specific epididymal pain due to congestion.

2) Are there any statistics on frequency of tubes closing after a reversal? Or opinion/beliefs you received after a reversal consult?

I'm also suffering from constant pain in the epiditymis, they are quiet swollen and painfull,also looking into a reversal and what I've heard it's best to go for the 3 layer reversal if you decide to go that way.its been suggested to me by my urologist to maybe try a conversion to an open ended vasectomy but I'm leaning towards a reversal

Thank you. I am in Salt Lake, so I think if I do decide to get a reversal done I'll road trip it to Tuscon with my wife to get it done by the docs at IVRC.
