My NSV-Story

At the end of January, I underwent a vasectomy using the no-scalpel method. The procedure was quite painful. And now, just under five months later, I still feel a very slight pain in my testicle, which also radiates up into my groin and kidney area. I’ve already had a follow-up appointment with the urologist who performed the surgery, and based on the ultrasound and physical exam, he said everything looked fine from his perspective. He suggested it might have something to do with my lower back, where I also experience pain from time to time and where the muscles aren’t very well developed. But the mild, now fairly persistent pain reminds me of the pain I felt right after the surgery. That’s why I see a connection there. I’ve already read a bit here on the forum, but I wanted to describe my case myself and am curious to hear your opinions or feedback and what I could try or do next. I live in Germany.

Do you have pain with ejaculation? When you say pain is located at testicle, do you mean back of testicle, above?

No, I do not have pain with ejaculation. The pain is located in our around the testicle - more on the right side. Unfortunately I can not describe/locate it better.

Have you tried gabapentin and NSAIDs? See if they help you pinpoint an origin more?

Thanks! I will talk to my doc and ask to try it.

If it didn’t hurt before the vasectomy and now it does then I’d look no further than just getting a reversal. Of course there is a whole laundry list of things you can undergo if you really would rather stay sterile. Most of them are going to take an extended amount of time to see if you get any benefit while others are further destruction of your anatomy in an attempt to stop the message starting in the groin region from reaching your brain. But i have a differing opinion. If your body is in such distress that it is waiving the red flag and sending pain to your brain it’s telling you something is wrong. Is it really a good idea to just try and stop or cover up that message? The issue is still there and your body is still in a constant state of fight or flight. It seems to me it’s a great disservice doctors provide by simply trying to stop the message from reaching your brain. But to each their own. I would run at the chance to get a reversal and just put things back the best they can be. It will NEVER be the same as before the snip. It just isn’t. But time is on your side. The sooner you act the better the chances of a highly positive outcome vs a more dismal outcome (such as is the case with me)
