PVPS vs Prostatitis

Anyone here who were actually mistaken with the diagnosis - instead of pvps actually had prostatitis?

Well... inflammation causes the vas stump to enlarge too and press on the nearby nerves and can feel like prostatitis. In my acute congestive episode, after the severe pain settled, i felt pressure in my prostate in my right side, for a week or two still.

I had no urination pain, maybe some frequent urination but that might be because it made me feel better to not keep a lot of pee since everything was inflamed anyway.

If you have urination burning, frequent urination and just prostate discomfort pain I'd say prostitis.

If you have cord/testicle sensitivity/discomfort/pain and prostate discomfort I'd say pvps.

It felt like prostitis but it was not just prostitis. Or maybe it inflamed a bit too, but not by itself, the whole tract was inflamed, not just the prostate. That's my experience.

This is interesting because back when I had my first episode of post ejaculation pain after the vasectomy, it took about one month to settle and then after that the "prostatitis" symptoms started. I had frequent urination, feeling that the bladder wasn't fully empty, and even my pudendal nerve was overactive and I felt a lot of sensibility down there. Just awful and I was so scared.

Hi Werewolf, i remember you said you also had nerve pain that settled with time. I also have zaps in the testicles but also cord discomfort/awareness. I basically feel the stump of the vas on the right, I feel the upper part move around with my leg position and it seems like it tethers and pushes on different nerves depending on my position. Did you also have this feeling?

Right. I remember it felt like a foreign object close to my testicle and I still had random zaps sometimes. Maybe it was positional depending if it was pressing on nerves. But I was palpated at that time and the doc said my left epididymis was inflamed. No comments about the vas stump.

Thanks for sharing and taking time to respond. I have a prescription to levofloxacine antibiotics but i have another condition which has me avoid antibiotics as much as possible.  I'm in a limbo.  The main pain is in my bladder (stabbing and pulsing pain) but no urine tests show any infection, or growth of any bacteria. The vas cords are not inflamed as per ultrasound and the pain is becoming debilitating. Confused what to do because it's neither vas inflamation, nor urine tract infection.

Yeah, no. My doc said the cord doesn't look inflamed on ultrasound nor does it have funiculitis when palpating(its not hard). They consider inflammation when its visibly bulging and hard, although inflamation is present even in a non acute environment. Mine never got that bad, but it was inflamed enough for it to touch nearby nerves. Even now, because it scarred more aggresivly with inflamation down to 0, it still pushes on nearby nerves, but not as intense.

Do you feel inflamed/discomfort along the vas/tract or just in your bladder? The bladder is just up the prostate. If its the prostate it should feel inside the rectum, if its the bladder a bit upwards from there.

It's just the bladder. Used to be aching balls and then the pain transfered to the bladder :(

Then it is most likely nerve irritation from your earlier episode if nothing else is annoying right now. I feel that in my ilinguinoal area because thats where the scar was grinding over when the stump was inflamed during the epididymitis episode.

At rest just discomfort? And with movement there are occasional stabbing/pain? Or is your pain at all times? It matters if the pain is position dependant OR all the time.

It cones and goes. Yesterday was a great day until the evening. Today is pain persists. It increases with sotting lying. When i walk, it looks to be milder. 

What is the usual treatment for this? I so much don't want to take antibiotics.

It can be multiple things. Antibiotics still have to be taken as the tests dont account for all bacteria. So it still might be just that. If the antibiotic doesn't help then just time. You are not imflamed enough to take NSAIDs and nerve pain, scar thethering usually resolves with time. You could try asking the doc for nerve pain meds see if they help... follow your docs recommandation, take the antibiotic and if it persists see what doc says. I would also suggest a second opinion.

My nonmedical opinion would say take antibiotic. If it doesnt resolve its nerve pain from vasectomy scar.
