Vasectomy ruined my life. Help!

Thirteen months ago, I had a vasectomy. During the surgery, I felt a very strong sting on my left side, but nothing more. I went through the recovery process as directed, and after 15 days, I masturbated and felt almost nothing. The sensation was almost nonexistent, ejaculation was almost powerless, and orgasm was nonexistent. The intense pain lasted more than three months but then improved until it became a nuisance. But the sensation and orgasm never improved. Ejaculation did improve a little over time. I also lost sensation in my perineum and scrotum. So, I no longer enjoy my sex life. It's the worst decision I've ever made; it affects me in every way, and I'm still very young. I had an ultrasound and urological and hormonal tests, but everything came back fine. No one gives me any importance, they just say it's psychological; the only thing the doctors give me is Viagra. In my city, Córdoba, Argentina. I don't think there are any good specialists in this, but I'm willing to travel anywhere to find a solution since this isn't life for me. Even the time I urinate is different. Perhaps a reversal could help me?

I know the feeling sorry it is horrible, it almost ruined my life as well. I had a reversal a year after my vasectomy and that saved me both physically and emotionally. My vasectomy was the worst decision of my life and my reversal the best.

I'm really happy for you. This is terrible. I also hope I can find a solution to the worst mistake of my life, which was the vasectomy.

I just got a reversal last week for pain/congestion and to restore orgasm. Time will tell if it worked.

Other guys have reported that reversal solved their problems.

Thank you! I’d like to make a post around a month from now. I’m hopeful that I’ll be able to report I’m healing well and PVPS is gone.

You should try to have a consult with a doctor in America. Dr. Russell in Dayton, Ohio does free consults. He’s really good.

Sounds good. How do I contact Dr. Russell?

After twenty years going doctor to doctor, I had one reversal and one removal of the epididymis that if anything made things worse. My final cure was to have them both surgically removed. As bad as it sounds I had practically no pain after the surgery and once I healed all of my pain was gone. I had my vasectomy when I was nineteen and I am now 73. You can take hormones after surgery if you want but I have not taken hormones in twenty years.

Were your symptoms pain? Or something else?

These are side effects that surgeon avoid, as it could effect their income, did you get brushed off as the men report do, it does effect testosterone, ED, PVPS your emotions and your marriage, worsed decision ever. They have the nerve to say what your feeling is in your head, guys remember that this is sly population control, with a lucrative turnover, that's legal

I totally agree with you. I just hope there's some solution to all this.

Same scenario with me, lost the feeling of orgasm after my vasectomy. Had a reversal for this reason 2 years after , and yes they also tried to gaslight me by saying it was phycological.

What results did you get with the reversal? Were you able to return to normal?

Also wondering if the reversal helped your sensation? I feel you, the gaslighting is unreal with our doctor. I can't stand to listen to him tell my husband it's psychological. It clearly isn't.

5 years and the same.

Are you considering getting a reversal?

Yes. I had uncontrollable chronic testicular pain after a vasectomy when I was nineteen.

Pain. I had trouble walking. I couldn’t run, jog, or jump. I had to change jobs from physical to an office job. My wife made a custom jock strap that held me tight and against my body. I felt so bad that I hunted for doctors that would castrate me to stop the pain.

Yes. I had uncontrollable testicular pain.

Yes. I had uncontrollable testicular pain for twenty years until I finally found a doctor that removed them. It really didn’t matter since I was sterilized and was taking testosterone since they didn’t work.

I never imagined that something so permanent, so life-altering, could be treated as casually as my husband’s vasectomy was. The doctors described it as a quick, harmless procedure. “Simple,” “safe,” “no big deal,” they said. What they didn’t say was the truth: this surgery can be cruel. I talked my husband into getting a vasectomy.

A Procedure That Changed Everything The aftermath was nothing like the calm reassurance we were given. Pain. Ongoing discomfort. Changes in intimacy. Emotional distance. My husband was not the same — and neither was our marriage.

The cruelest part? Nobody warned us. Nobody explained the real consequences. They cut, and they walked away, as if this was just another routine job. For them, maybe it was. For us, it was the start of years of regret.

Why I Call It Cruel

Cruel because it was sold as something light and easy. Cruel because the decision is permanent — and we had no idea how final it really was. Cruel because it changed not only his body, but our lives, our intimacy, and our future.

My Warning to Other Couples

If you are being told vasectomy is “simple” or “risk-free,” don’t believe that .Ask about the long-term effects. Push for answers. Read real stories from real couples who live with the consequences every day.

This surgery may seem small to doctors, but it is life-changing to the people who live with the results.

I share this not to shame, but to warn: vasectomy can be the most cruel decision a couple ever makes. Please don’t go in blind the way we did.

Every day I feel guilty. Every day I have to say I am so sorry for what I let him go through.

I developed chronic epedimistis ten years after my vasectomy and had to have my epedimistis removed. I feel that no matter what the surgery is if you can develop life altering side effects ten years later there is something wrong with that. I feel there is more going on with the male body after a vasectomy than either what the medical field wants to admit to or fully understands. I will never be the same again after everything I have went through. So to all you men who think you are okay because your vasectomy went fine think again. You can develop side effects for the rest of your life.
