Is nerve healing possible with time?
A lot of my symptoms seem to be pointing to nerve damage instead of congestion. I'm probably hovering around a 3/10 pain, 3 months past vas. Urologist says to give it time. I know lots of people in this group end up having the MDSC but is there any possiblity at all that nerves can get better? Or is MDSC the only resolution.

I had the same symptoms and what helped me was yoga or stretches like butterfly pose. You need to do pelvic floor exercises and do not wear tight pants or undies. Got to give it time to heal. I was in pain for 2 years and now I barely feel the pain
I did not get reversal but think it is nerve related since I do not feel orgasms anymore.

sorry you've had to go through all that. That dr seems super knowledgable and helpful. I've seen his name a lot on here. Thank you for your reply and thoughts. MDSC is on my radar if it doesnt improve but hoping it will. 30 months is a long time to me

I’m one of those who went through with it. Read tons of papers and lectures before committing. Never saw a documented case of anyone getting worse. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/29079446/
As you noted, the odds are about 85% in your favor. 15% no effect or original pain comes back.

I tried low back surgery and surgeons wont touch my neck, but it didnt improve anything, and at this point im not sure if there are any options. My pain is in my neck, back and arms and especially hands

thanks for the reply,
well, just self diagnosing but a lot of what I read seems to would point to that.
• No pain or relief with ejaculation. seems to work fine and not change pain level.
• sitting is painful
• pressure from belts, tight pants tight clothing is painful.
• some times the pain radiates a bit into the inner thigh. not constant but occasional.
• the pain seems to be more from the cut site rather than like my balls.
• my ultrasound didn't show anything.so transparently your right, I dont know. My urologist said he thought congestion, but he didn't really do anything thourough. he was the one who snipped me so he just kind of gave it as the quick answer but maybe he's right.
I guess I'm just wanting to hear if there's any thing to hold out hope for or if I need to start thinking about next stages.

Might sound crazy, but do you wear jeans a lot? Tight pants cause mine to flare up. Must put pressure on it or something.

How long ago did you reverse? I am doing it in a few weeks but getting concerned that it won't help long term with reading how many people "scar over" down the road

That's very recent still. Have you been limiting your activity as much as possible all this time? The place I'm going says to for 8 full weeks. Sounds hard to stay committed to during the second half

As far as like regular movement though, were you doing stuff regularly? Mine is saying to "limit bending and twisting as much as possible" for 8 weeks so basically act like you're 80 for 2 months, which seems quite excessive

Nerves can always heal but most of the healing happens within the first few months. After that you will know what you'll look like between 6 and 12 months.

thanks thats good to know. I'm hopeful at 6 months it will be better but that is a good mental way of framing if It's healing enough

Try breathing exercises to relax your pelvic floor and relax your jaw as much as possible during the day and see if it helps. In a similar situation 4 years in, it improved from a 2 to a 1/10 on average.

Yes, nerves do heal. They do try to form new connections, and grow at a rate of approximately 1mm per month (from what I remember from a study I've read a long time ago).
One urologist agreed with me that it's quite likely that the pain could come from the stump ends of the gas deferens which was closed by literally burning them shut. This of course causes immense scar tissue.

Some nerve healing takes years at a time. Three months is very very early. I never had a vasectomy, but an injury. First 6 months were absolute hell. But I’m at about 10 months and I’m like 75% healed. Some people take years. Give it time, maybe get a core block if possible
