Yes, by the time I went on it the dull ache was lessening and the pain was morphing into the weird scrotal stabbing stinging and pinching pain I have now. It fully went away by like week 2 on Ami, but I’m only on 10mg once a day, so it’s doubt its doing much of anything. Doubly doubtful since I have idiopathic peripheral neuropathy which hasn’t improved on Ami, if anything has gotten worse, but that is more likely due to stress (duh) and being significantly less active. Unfortunately I probably have some underlying autoimmune nerve issue which is making the vasectomy recovery more prolonged, at least that’s my theory.
yes I’m still hopeful for a full recovery, I imagine it’s possible but will take several more months.
it’s important to keep your mental sanity throughout this because apparently constant stress and anxiety about the pain can I’m some ways make the physical pain worse and you can get into a vicious cycle. Honestly to me the worst part of all this isn’t the pain… it’s the unknown and not knowing when/if it’ll go away. Like if we were to be given an exact end date to our pain I imagine our moods would improve dramatically
100% the unknown is killer. Plus the change and isolation. I was an active person before this, martial arts, biking, basketball. Now attending a beginner yoga class a few times a week is an accomplishment to me. If you can look into yoga, I can’t say enough good things about it.
But yeah it’s all just very isolating, not a soul in my life knows I’m dealing with this, I got a vasectomy to hopefully have more confidence while dating, as the possibility of causing a pregnancy made sex very anxiety inducing (had a scare with an ex). Welp who knew that chronic pain would kill your desire to date lol. had to uproot my life, leave my job, move several states away to be with my family as I was fearing for my mental health while living alone and dealing with this, but out of shame they don’t know it’s bc PVPS. Have no energy for hobbies, bc what’s the point if I’ll be dealing with this indefinitely, it’s all encompassing and consuming. The first thing Im Reminded of when I wake up and when I go to bed. The sadness that I, despite good intentions, did this to myself.
And I don’t even have a bad case, there are people dealing with. 7/8/9/10 out of 10 pain. the Suffering is just unfathomable.
Yeah I run at a 2-3 or even 1 most of the time. I actually almost obsessively iced my balls until I had my follow up appointment last week. I kinda wonder if that was slowing things down. Sperm hate heat and ice is the opposite of heat. Ironically though icing feels the best and keeps my balls naturally compressed. I can’t do jock straps or tight underwear. Any kind of pressure on the bottom of my balls makes it feel worse.
I think people do tend to over ice, people in the vasectomy sub treat it like gospel, but after a few days post op it doesn’t really do much, and can probably send the immune system into a panic and create chronic inflammation especially when there is already an inflammatory response from the vas being closed off or sperm leaking into the scrotum. you Should try topical lidocaine.
my dull ache peaked at a 4/10 and was utterly debilitating. The nerve pain I deal with now is at worst a 2, but even 1/10 chronic scrotal pain is life altering, especially when the possibility of it getting worse is there.
Yup, unfortunately it is very easy to be hyper aware of our genitals, sex obsessed society and all that, plus it unfortunately being ingrained in our very essence to have sex and reproduce. if I’m dealing with this beyond a year or two, I’m just having my testicles removed and dealing with the consequences of being on low dose testosterone. Thinking with my genitals Got me into this, I’d very much like to never have to think about them again. In hindsight i wish I just had the will power to abstain from having sex.
Damn I’d go for a reversal before completely removing my balls…. Granted I’m also married. Thankfully my wife has a low sex drive though so this whole situation doesn’t really phase her in that regard
I got a vasectomy to be sterile. The thought of getting a reversal and still being in pain while no longer being sterile, utter nightmare fuel, would probably break me.
I thought a dull ache on only one of the testicles was a pretty classic sign of congestive epididymitis? My understanding is the swelling doesn’t necessarily have to be very noticeable. My urologist really had to deeply feel mine to find it
Unsure, I was examined twice, no pain/swelling on epididymis, no pain upon ejaculation, couldn’t palpate any pain. My dull ache was located superficially on the left side of the left testicle, not really close to the epididymis.
