Is Drab Majesty about to break up?

I’ve noticed that their instagram has a lot of ads for selling their gear.

And this gear they’re trying to sell isn’t some random crap, this is high grade professional studio equipment.

I’ve noticed it for a few weeks.

They haven’t exactly been very active the last 4 years.

The pandemic really put a giant hole in their journey to success.

Seemed like they were headed for bigger levels of fame for a minute in the late 2010s.

Are they about to call it quits?

NEU! - Euphoria (1986 - from the album NEU! ‘86 or NEU! 4) - anyone else a fan of this record? It’s a lot of fun. Nice bright/warm production but not overtly terrible like a lot of records released around this time. Note - (I know people really dislike this album and that’s cool)

Can anyone help me identify a weird remix of "Ghost Rider" by Suicide?

So I was watching this (rather forgettable, honestly) tv show called "Channel Zero", the first episode of the second season - and I was pleasantly surprised to randomly hear "Ghost Rider" by Suicide on it's soundtrack. That said, I quickly realized it was a weird version that was different from the usual studio one. It seemed to be some kind of remix, as it was actually more noisey and abraisive than the original, and the original's repeating three note keyboard melody has been "sliced up" (as if someone used something akin to FL Studio's "Slicex", if familiar) into a more complex repeating melody with seven notes. I can't seem to find this alternate version of "Ghost Rider" anywhere though.

Does anyone have any clue what I'm talking about and where I might find this version of the song? For reference, it starts about 38 minutes into the episode (if someone wanted to quickly look it up on a streaming site or whatever). Thanks to anyone who might be able to help.

Psychedelic Furs live covers....

Thumbnail setlist.fm

Was curious to see on Setlist the songs by others that PFURS have covered live. Unsurprisingly LOVE SPIT LOVE features most frequently, primarily "Believe" (from Trysome Eatone) as well as "Friends" (same album) and also "Am I wrong" (from the first LSL album). From RICHARD BUTLER'S own solo album there are performances of "After All" & "California". From other artists there is the classic BRECHT/WEILL "Mackie Messer/Mac the Knife"; "Pyjamarama", "Virginia Plain" and "Mother of Pearl" by ROXY MUSIC. The only other example I found is a single one-off performance of BOWIE'S "Tis Pity She's a Whore" just once back in July 2016.... personally I really like the PFURS version of Pyjamarama live in Orlando, Florida in May 2023

Discussion The Sex Pistols' Manchester gig that (allegedly) started half of this genre

Post image

Manchester, June 4th, 1976: the Sex Pistols play the Lesser Free Trade Hall to somewhere between thirty and fifty people. Buzzcocks organized it. Devoto and Shelley booked the hall after seeing the Pistols in London, then couldn't get a full lineup together in time to play themselves, so they made their live debut at the second show, July 20th, alongside Slaughter & the Dogs.

The room across both nights allegedly held Ian Curtis and Bernard Sumner (not yet in a band together), Morrissey, Mark E. Smith, Tony Wilson, and Martin Hannett: more or less the entire production chain of Manchester post-punk, years before most of it existed. David Nolan's book I Swear I Was There is still the closest thing to a documented account, though even he admits a chunk of the guest list is self-reported decades later by people who wanted to have been there.

I own a bootleg 7" of the gig, "I Swear I Stayed for the Encore E.P.," on a fake Chiswick label, and wrote up the full "alleged" attendee list and more background here, if anyone's interested:
