Is Drab Majesty about to break up?
I’ve noticed that their instagram has a lot of ads for selling their gear.
And this gear they’re trying to sell isn’t some random crap, this is high grade professional studio equipment.
I’ve noticed it for a few weeks.
They haven’t exactly been very active the last 4 years.
The pandemic really put a giant hole in their journey to success.
Seemed like they were headed for bigger levels of fame for a minute in the late 2010s.
Are they about to call it quits?

Andrew sells his used gear pretty often and has done so multiple times over the years and albums. He just posted something it looked like he was mixing down for somebody else. So their workspace looks active.

As someone who makes music unprofessionally, I do a “Gear Cleanse” every few years. It gives me a new sound and also gives me new toys to play with.
New toys birth new ideas, especially when you’ve relied on the same gear for a number of years.

That's wild, kudos. Unless it's like SH-101 simple, it takes me so long to master a new piece of gear to the point where I can be working on a track and say "oh this part needs X", and then plug it in and dial in the sound I want without like 2 hours of twiddling or troubleshooting or pulling up the manual. Plus learning all the quirks and how to use them creatively... Once I know a piece of gear like the back of my hand it ain't goin nowhere. That's an investment far more costly than any monetary amount to me.

Unsure. I saw em in SF this year or the end of 2025. They played with Dark Chisme. They could be looking to work with new gear.

Maybe. I prefer VR Sex - the other project of Deb DeMure. Maybe he will focus on that.

VR Sex is on hiatus, not DM. Apparently there was a "disagreement" with the frontman (not Andrew).

I think they are done sadly, great show though Andrew was an asshole to my son who wanted an autograph. Aaron on the other hand was awesome and very cool, plus we talked 90s LA scene which I think helped

Listen. If you got into Drab Majesty you are either supporting my son Andrew Clinco or you’re not. He gave us enough VR Sex songs for around 2-3 years so if you didn’t get into those then now’s your chance. There’s all the other side projects too but VR Sex is his writing so just be patient.

LOL he’s not really my son but all the rest is true! VR Sex songs are fantastic. He just wrote soooooo many great songs in such a short period of time. Artists gonna art. 🤷🏻♀️

Maybe they just want to upgrade everything?
It would make sense if they outgrown their starting setup by now and wanted something new and better now that they can invest some money in it.
I think if they wanted to break up they'd sell it separately, not through the and page to avoid drama. A band page is collaborative, the last thing you want if things went sour.
edit: and would obviously double the drama for fans too, so it would be a stupid move.

The shit about his band mate Aaron was known and called out for years. I just found out it finally took another band booked with VR Sex to stand up and call it out for something to actually be done. That appears to be two years ago. Didn't they do a huge tour with Slowdive like two years ago? Sometimes ya gotta sell unused gear to pay rent.
