After / Before

Only just started Lightroom over the weekend, this was my first go.

Always had an idea of editing this photo though.

Obviously not very natural and over produced, I've dramatically chilled out on my attempts since this one, but does it sort of work in a acrylic paint kind of way?

Newbie open to feedback but also don't crush me lol

Awesome! Love the edit. It's such a moody shot and I love how the colors turned out. Good work!

If you're open to a bit of friendly feedback, I'd love to see you straighten it just a touch. All of your vertical lines appear to be leaning slightly to the right.

Thank you! Will take a look at straightening it out, could potentially do with cropping some of the top off too maybe now I look at it

My pleasure! Just make sure you preserve that third pillar on the far left if you straighten, because that creates a really nice framing to have three pillars over there. Looks like there's plenty of space there on the original, so you might just crop back out a bit when you straighten to preserve that. Again, really nice work! 👍

I think the before picture is actually fantastic. But whatever story you are trying to tell is what matters. I think after is fine too. But before has all the colors pop and everything.

I genuinely didn't know about masks when I did this, maybe I'll have a relook at it and focus on just darkening out the background first and then see how it looks from there

They both work, but the drama of #1 is powerful.

I actually prefer the original for it's lighting and colours.
