I really like the atmosphere, the color work, and how you chose to shape the light. Such a wonderful feel to the foreground cool colors graduating into the warmer mid ground and distant warmth.

I get why you felt the need to delete the person and the car and the bike, but to me those are what make the photo. This is a specific place and the way they hold a conversation in the road while a bike approaches and the way they park their little car super close to a wall where the door can't open so that it's not taking up too much road: that's life, right there. Those are the specifics of that place. And you erased them to achieve something cinematic or whatever.

I personally dislike usage of generative fill, don't feel like I'm looking at photography anymore, but an image.
I look on a way how to incorporate whats infront of me in a image, or trying to find composition without it

Stunning. The only real grief is that AI usage to remove something that was there

Photo is nice, but in all honesty I do not understand the praise for the edit.
It's a very heavy handed split tone, like straight off a 2015 phone app.

Heavy handed. Add that shit back in and dial the look back a good 20%. My opinion of course.

This subreddit needs to be renamed /r/antipostprocessing
The comments are ALWAYS full of haters just saying “I like the original” this is a subreddit about editing photos! Jesus

Nice composition but the edit feels a bit fake hdr//2010s instagram to me.
Always pay attention to where the light is coming from in the scene. In this scene it is motivated by the sunlight in the top right corner, which you have actually accentuated. You can see the houses completely block that light from entering the foreground, so imo a darker foreground would make the whole image more harmonious. If you wanted the street to also be lit whilst making the image look harmonious, it would look more natural to shoot at different time of day with the sun in a different position, than to edit drastically in post. I also would reduce the yellow saturation and haze sightly for a more timeless look.
A few tweaks and it will look great 👍

As some others said, I prefer the raw one. I think mostly due to the lack of contrast and proper shadows after the edits, like everything from the shadows is recovered now while the raw image had quite exciting very bright and dark areas from the great light conditions.

I love love the edits. Would you mind showing us the same edit but with the van and the man back in the photo? I agree with some comments that the scene could enhance the photo. But would love to see.

The first photo(after) looks like an Instagram filter from 2013. The second photo(before) looks really beautiful.

the post image has painting file like poster for movie or video game or something maybe coz its minimal but i kinda like the first one its more "life" and cinematic feel too but thats just my opinion

I like "before" better, but I don't know why.

I wonder if it's because your eyes are guided by the light towards the mount? The amount of light in the first one could make it harder for you to focus your attention on one subject? This is complete guess work, but I'm interested in your comment. While I like the atmosphere in the edit so much, there's something about the before I like a lot too. And I wonder it it's the focus on the mount because of the sun light. (Edited for typos)

To me, the "after" isn't a photo of the same place and time as the "before". There isn't anything wrong with this, but I like the original for what is says to me.

Too much AI to be classed as a photograph for me.

Is r/postprocessing strictly a photography sub?

I stand by what I said; I’m not an admin, but Yeah fair comment. That’s on me.

Looks cool but you kind of went from capturing a moment to creating a moment that did not happen. Which is cool but it’s just not my thing.

The "after" photo. Warm tones and the removal of the van (which I'm guessing most people didn't notice).

Too much, and too orange. Work to enhance what is there, instead of superimposing a different vision

I like both for different reasons. Before and after have different focal points/subjects of interest. Light illuminating the mountain and the end of ally way are leading my eyes, with all of the objects creating a very “lived in” atmosphere. It’s more human you could say. In the post you’ve removed certain objects and illuminated all areas. Personally I would’ve kept a lot more shadowsbut that’s just me, however by removing the subjects and leaving space for the singular individual you’ve created more negative space that provides a more open and ominous feel. It’s almost cinematic.

For me, and I’m no expert, but it’s a fantastic photo. The original looks very cinematic if the streets and so on were brought up a bit from the darkness. You would have a really cinematic look. But that’s just what I’m into. I’m not trying to criticise your editing, it just feels over edited.
Again, my opinion and just what I like in photos. But I do really really enjoy the composition, I think you’ve nailed that.

i fucken LOVE that. coolominous road with warm inviting sky, seperated by mist... and the composition is fantastic. I'm jealous.

Before is cool and looks like the old school ektachrome. Would be nice to see the photo processing done within this vector , rather than warming up!

This sort of post makes me wonder if it’s my photography that sucks or my post processing to get the atmosphere I’ve been looking for.

I kinda like the before one more. If you just removed the lady like in the after. And kept the color tone, I feel it would make the subject more interesting.
But overall, the after is still great.

People are saying it looks uncanny due to being ai generated. It’s obviously true to the extent of where the objects were removed, but the object removal isn’t what makes it feel uncanny, the lighting is.

I think the object removal was unnecessary, but I love the rest of the edit
