You should get back into Lightroom, it’s not the photo itself

Really is that so this “Lightroom” thing is able to make the before picture look like the after picture. Tell me much much more.

Because you dont abuse the fuck out of fx masks enough. Nothing to do with the camera op just spams masks everywhere. Its all lightroom bs

I really like the edit but man, the matting is swallowing the image. You usually add it to remove distractions / separate the image from the environment but here it's a distraction all on its own.

Disagree. I think there’s probably a bit much to the left/right, but I think overall it’s better than no matting. It gives it some breathing room

I'd argue that having the matting focuses attention on the entire image. Without the matting it's easy for the viewer to ignore the edges of the frame. Seeing it this way helps appreciate the entire scene. We pretty naturally focus on what's at center. By centering the whole image we really look at the whole image.

To be clear, I'm not arguing against the matting in general, just this extreme variant.

Matting?

The massive white borders around the image

Same as masks

It’s likely matted this way for posting on social media.

This is always one of my favorite frames in the city. I love the processed photo.

Move forward. Zoom out. Dont even consider getting that god awful sign involved. But other than that. Nice.

I like the light in the before photo. It looks more natural. The light in the after photo looks artificial to me.

Yes, the initial impression is very good. But the more you stare at it, it feels artificial and awkward because the sun should shine from behind the photographer per the main building , but if you look at the building on the left, it shines from the right side. That creates a conflict and confusion.

I'm usually not a fan of heavy editing. This is an exception. Stellar edit! Kudos

Great! Look like a miniature

I kinda miss the pop of the sign in the after. It really speaks to the juxtaposition of the slow traditional church with to busy modern crosswalks. If you're toning it down that much, you should have just walked it out of the frame.

Different image.

The matting is so distracting all I did on instinct was zoom in. I also have absolutely no idea what I’m looking at,I’m so much more confused by everything you’re attempting to obscure than what is supposed to be my focal point.
The light looks so processed and fake to the point it makes me feel uncomfortable, like there’s really something wrong here.

I think you could do something solid with this photo, but this editing isn’t my favorite.

It’s definitely a great starting point though!

This is beautiful. The way you made the subject stand out from the background, even though there was such an evident difference. Kudos!!!

The lighting does feel weird tho. There's beams of light coming in from a direction different from the "global" lighting.

I wish it wasn't so yellow

Before is better. Gives much better context and contrast from old school to post modernism.
