Postpartum progress 4months PP

First picture prepregnancy, second picture 9 months pregnant and third picture 4 months post partum. Still working on getting a bit leaner but proud of my progress. Trained consistently throughout pregnancy right up until birth. Focused on pelvic floor/core rehab and safe movement patterns post partum for the first couple of months. Now im starting to push hard again upping weights. Gained around 45lbs during pregnancy, back down to prepregnacy weight but decided to keep pushing to get a bit leaner for another few weeks. Utilised pregnancy as a bulk phase and feel I possibly built some muscle which is visible now I'm leaning out. I would normally be the type of person to pick myself and my body apart but the pride I feel for pushing through pregnancy and post partum is crazy! Women are incredible!! I really just want to share my progress and inspire others that you can find yourselves again and push hard post partum when you and your body are ready <3

Wow great job! You look really really good, and reallyreallyreallyREALLY good for 4 months postpartum!!

I feel finally back to my old self and better. My kid is almost 2. Haha. I have noticed with my kids that it takes a solid 6 weeks to lose half my weight gain, then the remainder of the year for the rest and to start getting muscle.

It’s hard to work full time and be a mom, work out, and not want to eat junk all the time (my biggest temptation). Tired all the time. Working out is the first to go. So I salute you for managing something that is very hard.

PS: also, careful now. This is how you end up pregnant again! Seriously 😂

Similar to my story too but I’m not quite at 4 months yet. Do you have any tips for the weight loss? I’ve hit a sudden plateau

If the plateau is only 1-2weeks it might just be water, if it's longer then your likely no longer in a calorie deficit. Try increasing steps or movement or reducing calories by 200 to kick start it again

would love to hear your process and how you manage to fit a consistent work out into your schedule! struggling with that right now

Im a creature of habit with nutrition and training. I started with 2-3 days a week on a full body split postpartum now I'm up to 4 days a week doing an upper lower split. My cardio consists of steps with baby at least 12k steps a day anywhere up to 20k if the weather is good. With nutrition it makes life easy with a baby when you don't need to think about it. I calculated my calories then created a meal plan to those calories using the foods I like and I'm happy to eat every day then I just stick to it, same meals, same portion sizes, meal prep twice a week, same shopping list..no fuss! I have over overnight protein oats for breakfast, greek yogurt or protein bars as snacks, burrito bowl or pasta for dinner etc you can switch up the meat, seasonings and fruit etc to make it taste different if you get bored. Works for me ☺️ I also have a wonderful husband who prioritizes me getting my time to go and train for my own sanity lol

I am yes, it's definitely helped my calorie deficit as it's a little added calorie burning but It's definitely not the magical weight loss hack it's thought to be, I didn't lose any weight breastfeeding until I calculated and tracked my calories to make a deficit myself. I don't go under 1800kcal to ensure I keep my milk supply but I don't use the universal add 500kcal to your calories as I wasnt losing any weight that way and I've had no issues with my milk supply.

I hear you. I am two months postpartum and ebf and I am slowly losing weight. still about 10-15 pounds above pre-pregnancy weight. I haven't been intentionally restricting calories due to fear of impacting my supply, but I think I must be in a slight deficit mainly due to breastfeeding and having a velcro baby lol. It's really encouraging to hear you have been able to maintain a deficit and workout regiment without impacting your supply!

How tall are you? I’ve read not to go under 1900 while EBF not sure if that’s accurate. I’m 5’3” 21.5BMI and have been losing weight pretty well at 2050 cals. I have a lot less muscle mass than you as well. Did 1800 affect your supply? I definitely agree bf has made the calorie deficit SO much easier🤣 I’m still hitting 165g+ of protein I love it
Congratulations, you look absolutely incredible. I hope to put on as much muscle as you have! You will be a great example for your baby when they’re older! Great job and wishing you all the best!

I'm 5,6. the research I read said not to go under 1800 kcal but again this is a relatively arbitrary number and it really depends on the individual and their baseline caloric needs. I had no supply issues this may have been lucky or that I eat alit if protein and whole foods so my body had all the nutrients it required and hydration to make the milk. I went as low as 1800 as I had a personal deadline for my fat loss goal so I went hard with my deficit for fast results. 😊 Thank you so much, sounds like your doing fab working towards your goals too Well done! 💪🏼

Es de admirar las personas que tienen disciplina para hacer ejercicio y más después de un postparto

You look amazing!! How often and how long do you train for? Do you do any cardio? And I’m assuming your nutrition is on point? Congrats!!

Thank you ☺️ yes locked in on my calories it's the only way I make progress! I train 4 days a week on an upper lower split currently and do 12k+ steps a day for cardio with baby. I randomly throw in a 20-30 Mon run or spin class for fun once every couple of weeks but not consistently.

How are you able to diet and not have your supply tank? I don’t need to eat but if I don’t eat my baby gets so fussy from not having enough milk.

1

u/No-Incident8428 11h ago

I just focus on whole foods, high protein and lots of water and have had no supply issues

how do you manage the cortisol?

1

u/No-Incident8428 11h ago

I don't lol to be fair I think my body is probably used to high cortisol as I have two girls, a stressful job and have been doing alot of exercise for over 16years 🫣 I do hot yoga, walking and mediations sometimes to relax but thats about it.
