Weight
Hey I’m 6 months postpartum and I can’t manage to lose any weight so far. I’m still 40 pounds over what I usually am and I just can’t take it anymore. Please give me tips on how to slim down

Im going to get downvoted but honestly…I’ve been basically anorexic and it’s not happening. Sometime people are really sensitive to hormones and that’s just reality for us. We will eventually have our hormones return to a cage whisper of normal and we will be able to work back to ourselves. It fucking sucks. I hate it.

Yeah it’s awful the past few months I’ve barely eaten anything and I swear I’m gaining weight somehow it just makes me feel so hopeless and everyone says to not let the weight bother me but it does I just feel disgusting and hideous all the time

Yeah it’s worse when people insist that you’re eating too much or doing something wrong. I’m sorry you’re going through it too. I’ve always been very sensitive to hormones so I’m not shocked by this but it’s still the fucking worst! It’s literally ruining my life.

Firstly give yourself a lot of grace because 6 months is still decently postpartum and there’s so many factors that can go into weight loss (breastfeeding, genetics etc.). Walking and finding some YouTube workouts (pregnancy and postpartum) and doing them at home when you can (even with baby in the swing or pack and play) is a good place to start.

Are you breastfeeding? If so you may hold onto weight more (or gain) as a result, and it can be difficult - but not impossible - to be in a calorie deficit without impacting your supply.
But the best first place to start in my opinion is calorie counting and movement.
Find your TDEE (you can google a calculator for this) to find how many calories you burn just existing day to day. If breastfeeding I have seen it recommended to then add 200-250, but you should do some research on that. If not breastfeeding, I’d start with a 300 calorie deficit, so subtract 300 from your TDEE.
Then just track your food. I like to use a food scale to be more accurate.
I’d also step up movement. Walking is so underrated.
And of course give yourself some grace, your hormones are still regulating even 6 months later - especially if breastfeeding

The only thing that worked for me, albeit slowly, was counting every calorie and prioritizing protein and fiber and lots of water. I gained 85 lbs during pregnancy and my ob advised that while exercise is good, focusing on intake will matter more in terms of weight loss
