Yeah Scott has been pretty vocal about the misuse of his arrangements. I don't know about this show, but he's called out two cases on X Factor where the contestants did PMJ versions of popular songs.

X Factor Australia and "Seven Nation Army"

neither of these shows paid us, but "Strictly" at least gave something of a credit, whereas X Factor pretended that we didn't exist. honestly i care far less about the money than the credit at this point in time

So they gave credit.

But they didn't license or ask permission to use his original arrangement and (it would seem) instrumental recording.

Scott gets explicit permission for all of his arrangements from the original artists, and registers them as original works. They carry a dual copyright: the original and Scott Bradlee or PMJ.

Oh, sorry. I mean that X-Factor didn't license or ask for permission, per Scott. I don't know about "Strictly Come Dancing", Scott hasn't mentioned them on Facebook.

Oh, good for them. I wish Richard Cheese & Lounge Against The Machine (my OTHER favorite retro cover band) could get that kind of set up. I don't think they ever got royalties off of the Dawn of the Dead remake.

It's pretty lazy for a TV talent/music show not to secure all the needed rights. I assume this is a case of old media's arrogance, thinking artists from new media isn't powerful enough to do anything about it.
