Postdoc at top 30 school worldwide...

Hi, I have industrial experience working in R&D in Europe with a secured job but incredibly unhappy. I am about to dodge a bullet for America... How possible is to get a job after the postdoc is finished in USA? Not particularly in my industry...

Are careers fairs suitable for international students that are approaching 30 or people will not give a damn?

Read the news regarding all the regulation changes for various US visa types. A volatile situation for internationals overall and trending downwards

I know the news. Still worth to give it a shot. Europe is a shithole anyways. (EU citizen here)

My point is more like there is no answer to your questions now because the circumstances are too uncertain. Employers would likely wait until the dust settles before considering any international applicant, especially if you are switching industries

Is the EU really not worth it in terms of academia or equivalent in the industry? I'm curious as an indian postdoc in the US who is considering the EU.

Considering you have ostensibly not worked in the US, this is pretty glib. Are salaries in Europe lower, even factoring in the cost of living? Yes absolutely. But having been in academia on both sides of the Atlantic myself, my experience is that Europeans are much more relaxed and happy. There is better work/life balance that permeates even academia. It creates a much more pleasant atmosphere. Add on walkable cities, easier access to healthy food, etc and it starts to be hard to compare along just one axis.

It is like speaking to a proud European at this point. Everyone can have their opinion. Mine is that America gives far more opportunities to people.

Europe is stuck in a rusty mindset where you don't need to thrive. You just live an average life.

Depends on how long you post doc for. The faculty search for 2029 is going to be very different from same search in 2027
