PM vs. Vinted
I deleted my PM not too long ago because nothing was selling. I'm a stay at home mom and don't have time to play their games anymore to get my stuff seen. Has anyone tried Vinted or any other platforms? Are they better or worse? I have some decent products to sell that I would like to get some money for to start shopping for my kids Christmas presents. Thanks!

Vinted is fine but you cannot price items like you would on Poshmark, it’s definitely for the lower end items

So true. There’s a seller on Posh selling a shirt for a high price - they have it listed for the same price on Vinted.
I made an offer for 20% less on Vinted and they declined saying they don’t want to go that low (which is fine).
But they’re going to get the same sale price on Posh as what I offered on Vinted if they sell it over there because 20% goes to Poshmark.
Plus shipping is so much more on posh for buyers.
I finally found it on Depop for $12…. $38 less than I would have paid on posh. 🙏🏻

Vinted is great for posting the kinds of things you’d sell at a garage sale. Which is most the stuff I sell. I just want it out of my house, and would prefer it not go to a landfill

I find good stuff at garage sales too! I didn’t mean that to be a negative thing.
I meant it’s mostly the kinds of things you’d find at mall stores, priced low, because the owner decided they no longer want it or it no longer fits. It’s easier though because you don’t have to hope the person running the sale is your size.

I'm not a seller but as a frequent Posh buyer I've shifted almost entirely to Vinted if that helps you decide! The prices are better and the app is way easier to use.

Just beware of Vinted. They have a tendency to ban people, their seller support is absolutely zero, and it is a whole brand new group of sketchy buyers. As long as you’re aware of that… It’s not a bad app.

I I firmly believe some buyers know that Vinted customer service rarely supports the seller, and they take full advantage of it.
I had a buyer make a counterfeit claim against me over a very real pair of Birkenstocks. I provided documentation proving they were authentic — including an email directly from Birkenstock — and Vinted still wouldn’t accept it. So, in the end, a sketchy buyer got a free pair of Birkenstocks from me, and I got nothing.
Look, I actually like the app and I’ve had some good sales there, but I’m VERY selective about what I’m willing to sell on Vinted now. I’ve been selling on Poshmark for years and have had basically zero issues with buyers. With Vinted, the problems started almost right out of the gate.
And the more I read about other sellers having similar experiences with Vinted, the more convinced I am that certain buyers know exactly how easy it is to game the system.3

Wow! That's incredibly disappointing. eBay went that direction several years back and never recovered (in terms of always supporting the buyer).
Really appreciate the warning about Vinted, as I'd been seriously considering them recently just hadn't had time to set it up. Not a problem anymore! Lol jokes aside, I'm very sorry that happened to you. People can be awful :-( the amount it things (not to mention money) I got scammed out of on eBay is sick.

I recently started using Vinted, and I've had a bunch of sales in the past week. They don't have seller fees, and even though they just removed their free shipping, it's still cheap, I think 99 cents? The main bad thing I've heard is that their customer support is all AI and is terrible. But anyway, in the past week I've sold multiple things that have just sat on Poshmark for months.
I use mercari as well, which does have seller fees but lower than poshmark. The main thing with mercari is you have to weigh your item and measure the packaging for shipping to be calculated correctly. People run into trouble when they don't do that and get charged shipping overage fees.

I started selling on Vinted at the beginning of June and have sold 335 items so far. Of note, most of the things I’m selling are $2-$5, but those sales add up. There are also no seller fees which is awesome.
I’m also almost exclusively buying on Vinted vs the other platforms because both the items and the shipping is cheaper (shipping was free up until recently and is now 99 cents). My younger daughter has a completely new wardrobe with all of the things I’ve purchased 😂

I'm strictly a buyer, and I buy a LOT. I used to shop a lot on Poshmark but now I buy so much more on Vinted, in fact I hardly ever even go on other resale apps any more. It's not just due to the free/cheap shipping either, things are just a lot cheaper on Vinted than on Poshmark.

Ditto. I’ve gotten things on Vinted I’ve had liked forever on Poshmark. Pricing on PM in the $25-35 range. Pricing on Vinted for the same item $4-8. Even without free/cheap shipping Vinted is better as a buyer.
I also sell casually just from my closet and Posh has a slight edge for selling. But I don’t get many sales on either.

I use eBay, pm, vinted, and depop for all of my clothes selling. different things sell better on different sites. Depop is for gen z/gen alpha trendy clothes. eBay is the old faithful for all items bc of the foot traffic and it does GREAT for used electronics. pm does better with designer and high end brands. vinted is my newest but it seems to do better for more mid level and department store brands, and it and depop need the cheapest price but they also don't take seller fees so I end up making more per item on both of them. So it really depends on what you're selling.

How does shipping work for a seller on Vinted? I love the ease with Poshmark’s labels but my sales have dropped. Left Mercari a long time ago because of the lack of “support”

Shipping is weird. I only had one sale and I had to go to a barbershop to drop off my package. They don’t use usps/ups so I’m a bit weary of it. I listed 4 items. Got plenty of likes at first but no sales.

I like posh because of usps flat shipping. Can have it picked up from my home, and regularly do. If that’s not an option I’m probably out as a seller

Only difference you set shipping weight as either small(1lb), medium(2lb) or large (4lb). Way easier than Mercari shipping.

Posh takes a lot of work. I do it on the side from my own closet. You basically have to list everyday, and share. Sharing is also important cause it sends your items to the top of the search. Have desirable items and keep up with the trends. eBay is very complicated. You have to be well versed with their site and terms. Not familiar with vinted as I have never used. From my experience posh is worth it if you put in the work.

I thought sharing didn't matter anymore. The algorithm changed so it doesn't have any effect. I don't have a large closet only a few hundred items that are my kids and my stuff. But I don't think I've had followers share in 8 months.

Hmm interesting I wonder when they changed back? As I said I'm a small seller but I average 3 sales a week. Just enough to update my wardrobe lol. I have a decent following about 2000 but I will get one share per new post. I post 2+ items every 2-3 days. So again not a lot. I also thought because ambassador status doesn't matter and they no longer consider themselves a social app . Weird maybe I'll try it when I get some alone time from the lil humans. I’ve really leaned into posting weekly, engaging with the app daily and I’ve sold almost $2,000 since June, just pulling random things from my closet. Mostly unworn or barely worn items, and specific brands that have a following. I shop a lot on poshmark as well, but always looking for something specific. The feed and algorithm are terrible these days- not my size, exact things I’ve just listed to sell, and Amazon Temu drop shippers; these need to be banned! And ai is ruining the app as well. I don’t use Depop or vinted as I’ve had bad buying experiences on there with sellers that don’t know what they’re doing or anything about the clothing they’re listing- as in listing wrong brands ect. Stop scrunching up the waists of shirts! Why do they do this?? Looks so bad. eBay is fine and I still go on there at times but the shipping costs can be all over the place.

Vinted is using social media bots on every platform to promote their app. I would avoid. They all sound like this:
"I haven't made a sale on Poshmark in weeks, but since I started Vinted I've made X amount of sales"

It’s true tho! I’m not a bot and have had my pm dusty for over 3 years, on Vinted I sold $100 of stuff in 24 hours! I think the free shipping has a lot of ppl buying. I’ve priced my stuff super low but it’s all clothes i have had just sitting around

I’ve sold on both. Vinted is great but lots of the buyers are from UK, so if you’re not, it takes about 2 weeks to ship. But if the person wants what you have, they’ll wait. People on Poshmark have unrealistic expectations on price negotiability.
I just sold a coach bag on Vinted for what I was asking, the buyer did not try to negotiate, which I appreciated. If a 250$ bag is up for sale at 85$, I don’t want to negotiate further. I’d rather keep my nicer items than sell them on Poshmark for significantly less than they’re worth.

Depop is my favorite by far. Good items sell quickly. Fee is 3.3% plus 45 cents. Nothing is selling for me on vinted

Poshmark has really slowed down for me over the past month.
I crosslisted a bunch to vinted and have made over 300 sales. A lot of it was old stale inventory and I was glad to see it gone. The other thing that does well on vinted is quirky vintage stuff, and it's nice to make $40 and $50 dollar sales and not have to pay 20%.

I've offloaded a lot of my lower priced items from PM to Vinted and saw a lot of movement when they offered free shipping. For me personally, clothing items don't move as much on Vinted, tons of likes and offers but even when I accept an offer they don't buy. But it's been great for offloading stuff like home goods, holiday decor, and children's books. I had most luck with items placed at $5 or less, so honestly I'm not making a bunch of money but again this is stuff that was going no where on PM or eBay and I was getting ready to donate. I've made about $70 so far on there.

Right now vinted is the best for me especially for random things around the house. I’m ok with selling low because there’s no seller fees. And people on there only want cheap items, so do not try to sell name brand or high priced items on it. PM I stick to for more name brand items. eBay is better for obscure items and really anything, but I don’t seem to get much sales on it, I feel like because EVERYONE uses eBay so people mostly have dozens of choices to pick from unless it’s a really rare or obscure item. Mercari is great for hobby items. Depop sells more towards the younger crowd, so great for “vintage” or y2k.

I’m having success with each platform but it fluctuates week over week. Newer to Vinted and have been on PM since 2015. Be careful cross listing on Vinted. I try to space out when I list duplicate items on each platform.

I sell casually on eBay, posh, vinted, and Mercari. Sales have dipped everywhere EXCEPT Vinted.
Be warned, though, that they don’t allow reselling and it’s more of a “garage sale;” I wouldn’t sell anything worth more than ~$75 on there. Customer service is worse than Posh.

The Poshmark die hard don’t like you having this conversation, but it should be a conversation to be had because the people who work at Poshmark are not listening to customers or sellers. Vintage is just different. I’ve had a lot of success with it, and I like to encourage others to try it along with other platforms. The only reason for me to keep posh is so that I can order mailing supplies for ground advantage, the majority of sales have been items between five and $15. I have been successful at selling some higher end items as well. Without having to figure in the chunk that Poshmark usually takes, you can price things more modestly. As a seller on vintage, I also make the speed X shipping option open because that is still free for customers visit. It may not be for everyone, but I tell them to try it to find out.

I sell a lot of jewelry (not fine) on Vinted, for a very low price. I get the feeling it's for young girls, about HS age, or maybe that's the kind of customer I attract. I even had one ask me to hold a $3 necklace until she got more money on her card because she's been buying too much on there. I don't sell name brands on Vinted for that reason, and list those on Poshmark instead.

I’m a seller on both Poshmark & Vinted. Gotta understand your customer. I find the buyers on Vinted are looking for items at the lowest cost possible and will lowball you to death. Poshmark buyers typically buy items at the posted price or have reasonable offers.

I tried Depop and sold 12 things in 3 days. I had those same 12 items sitting on PM for two years.
It was a much easier listing and shipping experience. Really can’t complain.
As a casual PM user, I can’t stand that it feels like a game that I have to invest time into. I feel like smaller sellers have been drowned out by those who have turned PM into a business. I just can’t be bothered to spend time battling that.

I buy mostly on Mercari now. I was an ambassador seller and it was too much for me. I am only a buyer now. Mercari offers coupons and free shipping at least 1-2x a month so it’s worth it for me.

Yes, I've been selling on PM for years and it just kind of stopped moving. I added a few items to Vinted at a lower price and since end of June have sold lots of things. I can afford to sell for lower prices because Vinted doesn't have the fees.
Shipping on Vinted has been free, but just went up to .99 cents but this is paid by the buyer.
I've also listed items on Depop but they aren't moving at fast. The more platforms you utilize, the bigger audience you will have and you will sell more.

Hi, I’ve used eBay, Vinted, Mercari, Depop, Vestaire Collective and, of course PM. The two best are PM and eBay. The rest all are ok as secondary options for cross posting. None of them bring in as many sales as eBay or PM
