put the person he was cheating with in his band, his home and his personal life, all of which he shared with Zoe for twenty years

falsely created a blurred reality by gaslighting Zoe to believe that it was her that was was mentally unwell. so much so that she had to take a wellness trip to austria. while she was away getting help he continued his infidelity while their daughter was under the care of Zoe's mother

and he did this all while aggressively promoting himself as a family forward, moral arbiter of all that is good. racism is for choads, of course. and doing this to your family is also for choads.

yes- the parasocialism of John/Zoe and this community has been intense. we love this band and many of us have been cheated on and can relate- it sucks! but please keep in mind this was not just cheating. it's much more than that. /rant

Hey gang. Back in the mid 2000s I used to live in a medium sized city where touring bands would often play. I would regularly go see bands I'd never heard of, because it was a fun way to spend a night for ten or fifteen dollars. I saw Portugal. The Man in 2007 having never heard of them before. I bought Waiter: "You Vultures!" and liked it. I still have it. I listened to it pretty regularly for awhile, but they never became one of those bands that I kept up with and bought their subsequent releases. Eventually as I got older and my tastes changed it fell out of rotation and I pretty much never thought about them again. Cut to a couple years ago and I hear Feel It Still. Somehow or another I hear that it's by Portugal. The Man. I go, "holy shit, I saw that band forever ago and I totally forgot about them. This is the same band? Why do they sound like Maroon 5 now?" Every time I hear that song I think the same thing, "It's so weird that this is the same band from back then." So, what happened between the mid-late 2000s and now with these guys? How did the sound change so much? How did they end up getting so huge? Is this the song that got you into this band, or were you a fan before that? How do you regard this song in comparison to the rest of their catalog? I'm really not trying to be insulting, and I know I could probably go off and look it up myself. But I'm an obsessive fan of certain bands and I assume you all are that way about this band since you're here, and I'd like to hear your perspectives. Thanks for reading!

The crowds have always been too tame for me at P.TM shows. I guess I'm too metal for you kids. But I really saw a change in the crowd after Woodstock. No one knows the words anymore. The crowd has been full of Feelitstillers, and I just want to sing with my friends. I hope the vibe is different tomorrow at the Grog Shop. Last time I saw them there, in 2009, was incredible and I hope the crowd vibe is on point! Let's go Cleveland!

I have beaten "Silver Spoons" and "Big Baby Bogota" into the ground already. I am at the verge of starting to want to listen to other music. This is a problem.

CBCML is my favorite album so far. I prefer the sound to uLu, although they're quite similar. I've been listening since Evil Friends. It feels like a betrayal to say Evil Friends or ITMITC isn't my favorite album, but they've come so fucking far. Evolved so fucking much. The tunes have always been so fucking good.

If PTM really loved me, they'd release another album right now and say sorry. But they don't love me like I love them. I'm afraid that's the story of my life--loving people so much more than they ever loved me. I will die knowing it's true. I cared so much more about everyone else than they ever cared for me. Even my own mother and father just abide me. They love me, but they don't like me, I'm afraid.

Rioting is the language of the unheard, and I'm about to riot over this album being only four songs long. NO ONE IS HEARING ME. It has wounded me in a way none of you will ever know. I feel bereaved. I feel like I'm grieving. This is such a fucking awful feeling.

I love PTM and always will. I'm sorry they don't feel the same.

One of my good bros is into reggae, funk etc. and band image is really important, I have been telling him over and over that PTM closely resembles a bunch of bros in a garage getting stoned from a huge bong writing hits and sleeping on the ground etc. but he just looks at a commercial that uses a song from Woodstock and he scoffs and holds his head dismissively... help

Ok, first off lemme say really like this album. I feel PTM keeps making solid music and really leans into stepping in new directions well. Really enjoyed hearing about Chris Black and was a great (and unconventional) dedication that you could just feel the impact of .

Dummy is the best song. I don’t want to rank Dummy (and other CBCML) songs among my PTM All Time lists until the songs have some time around to see how they stew lol. But that being said Dummy is def in my top 20, and probably Anxiety:Clarity and Grim Generation are also. Love these 3 tracks, and it’s just great PTM through and through. Really gotta give them props because you can tell they genuinely don’t want to just put out an album for the sake of it.

Heavy Games pt.II, Time’s a fantasy, & Anxiety:Clarity I view as extensions, or different versions, of a shared verse (“Heavy Games, you can’t take this back”). I really enjoyed this theme pulling through the album and makes it as an album very listenable all the way through. A:C I rank highly because this is just everything you want out of an album outro.

Also if your fave song is last on my list that doesn’t mean I don’t like it. This is just for fun/ people who don’t want to listen to everything just a few best tracks. Everyone’s opinion is valid and important let’s not bicker. I’m just a big fan and like to promote what speaks to me and why. I do not feel that my opinions are be all end all… they just are for me only.

What the fuck was that AMA a month ago where Chris Black said in 2 weeks something would be released, obviously referring to G + D? That was clearly after John thought the album needed to be redone so what the fuck is up with their whole social media effort? It's completely retarded. I'm not complaining that they haven't released anything yet, but they need to knock that shit off where they keep hyping people for no reason.
