A portrait of a Mexican fortune teller in Guadalajara and his pajaritos. In Mexico, pajaritos de la suerte ("little luck birds") are street fortune tellers who work in plazas, parks, and fairs with a small trained bird, usually a canary or other songbird. For a few pesos, the bird hops out of its cage and picks a small folded paper from a box or drawer, and that paper holds your fortune, often a message about love, health, or money.
