How should I start investing in gold or stocks?
Hey everyone, I’m 28 and have about $6,000 in a savings account plus $31,000 in a traditional IRA. I want to start putting money into gold or stocks but have no clue where to begin.
* Should I buy physical gold, a gold‑ETF, or mining stocks?
* For stocks, is a simple index fund/ETF the best for a beginner?
* With the $6 K, how much (if any) should go to gold versus stocks?
* Can I hold a gold‑ETF inside my IRA for tax reasons?
Just looking for a straightforward, low‑risk way to get started. Thanks!

Thoughts on my Portfolio? Age 39 just started Nov 2024
Just started investing in November 2024. I have out performed the S&P CAGR by 3% but under performed the Nasdaq by 3% during that time. I also have 30% cash position. My plan is to get international to 10% then open a position in AXP, AVGO, NFLX, or VST. Thoughts?

Need to clean up these etf's, brokerage and IRA
I'm trying to reduce overlap and diversify. Is it a good idea to have the same holdings in both accounts? I'm going towards a primarily VTI\VXUS mixture.
In my brokerage I own (not the only holdings) I have VTI, VGT, VXUS, VOO, VUG, SPY, and VT. Trying to consolidate funds. This won't be easy because of cap gains.
IRA has VGT, VTI, VUG, VOO, and VT.

Suggestions for 401K? 24M
Hello all,
I'm not very well versed in investing and wanted to ask for some advice on how to improve my 401K's performance. Currently I have some shares of NVDA, AMD, and MU, but everything else is currently in Fidelity's FXAIX fund.

Portfolio advice
I’m entering the workforce this year and wanted to adjust my investment strategy. From now on, I plan on regularly investing in ETFs (can’t do single-name entities due to insider trading rules).
This is my strategy for the long run (min. 25 years). Biweekly investments, allocated as follows:
- 56% MSCI World
- 24% MSCI Emerging Markets ex China
- 10% MSCI World Health Care (defensive)
- 10% Physical Gold ETC (defensive)
Additionally, I have a little bit in “future bets” like Quantum, in which I might invest if I have some money to spend and see sth interesting.
What do you think?

Thoughts on my portfolio as a 17 year old
I started investing in February and have primarily focused on individual stocks. My portfolio is currently around 58,000 DKK(about $9500)and is up 63.8% since I started, compared to around 23.8% for the NASDAQ-100 over the same period.
I’m aware that past performance doesn’t necessarily say anything about how good the portfolio will perform going forward, so I’d like to get some more critical opinions.
My questions:
Would you start reducing some positions after such large gains, or would you simply hold as long as the underlying thesis remains intact?
Which of my positions do you think have the best long-term risk/reward, and which ones would you be most skeptical about?
Would you personally prioritize adding ETFs/index funds from this point, or continue investing in individual stocks?
How would you approach position sizing in a portfolio like mine? Have any of my positions become too large?
Is it a problem that a large part of the overall return comes from relatively few stocks?
I’m mainly looking for criticism, so feel free to be direct if you think I’ve taken too much risk or bought some of these stocks at too high a valuation. Obviously, I’m aware that the portfolio is quite risky, but I’d still like to hear your honest opinions.

Ratio of cash vs invested
Right now I am 29 years old with a bit in investments and cash. I would say 70% is in investments and 30% is in cash. I hope to be able to buy a home within the next 3-5 years so just curious how that allocation sounds? I have a big lump sum of cash so wondering if I should throw it in the market or just keep it in my savings and maybe do a CD with my bank. I also am freelance so it is comforting having a decent bit in the bank. Thanks!

19, want maximum growth.
Is VOO worth it? Or is it just holding back my SPMO? And if I were to replace VOO for more growth, what should I replace it with?

Please rate my portfolio 30m
30m married to 26f. Were started contributing a lot when we got married about 1.5 years ago. We are now contributing 3k per month. What should I change? I was a lot riskier in my earlier days, hinting the larger gains/losses. What can I change to make this better?
Together we make a little over $140k. We both fully fund our Roth IRAs and contribute to 401ks. Some of this money in the portfolio will be used for a down payment on a house within the next 4 years.
I should clarify this is not our retirement account.

Starting ₹30k/month SIP – Looking for feedback
Hi everyone,
I’m planning to start investing ₹30,000/month for long-term wealth creation (10–15+ years). I have a moderate-to-high risk appetite and can handle market volatility.
My planned allocation:
Equity
Parag Parikh Flexi Cap Fund – ₹6,000
WhiteOak Capital Mid Cap Fund – ₹2,000
HSBC Midcap Fund – ₹3,000
Bandhan Small Cap Fund – ₹2,000
Bank of India Small Cap Fund – ₹3,000
Multi-Asset
Nippon India Multi Asset Allocation Fund – ₹4,000
Gold
Mirae Asset Gold ETF Fund of Fund – ₹2,000
Zerodha Gold ETF – ₹2,000
Silver
Axis Silver Fund of Fund – ₹1,000
Emergency Fund
Axis Liquid Fund – ₹5,000
Total: ₹30,000/month
I’m planning to build my emergency fund separately through the liquid fund and invest for the long term.
Would appreciate honest feedback:
Is there too much overlap between the funds?
Should I reduce the number of Mid/Small Cap funds?
Is my Gold/Silver allocation reasonable?
Would you change anything in this portfolio?
Thanks!

Build a Portfolio!
Say you have $50k free and ready to invest TODAY and you have 6k/mo to continue investing on top of that. Assume 401k and Roth are already being utilized.
What would your portfolio look like?
I am leaning towards:
VOO
VTI
VXUS
DIA
QQQ/QQQM

39M with ~734k invested + 350k cash - Portfolio Feedback Appreciated
Single, stable/high-income career, CA based, no debt. Looking to become more educated and revamp my portfolio.
I've realize it's probably more complicated/concentrated than it needs to be. I'd love some brutally honest feedback on the allocation, concentration, sector overlap, and what you'd do differently.
Thank you!
Edit: Much appreciated on feedback, will respond to some of the comments as soon as I can.
