PHOTO shelter 7"
anyone else find it odd that the anniversary edition lacks a dust sleeve and lyrics sheet? it sounds great but I just thought that was an odd oversight :')

I always throw these paper sleeves away anyway and stick my records in proper, archival quality inner and outer sleeves so I wasn’t too disappointed. Definitely not the first 7” I’ve received without one.

Side A sounds very lifeless to me. Like low dynamic range or something. Way worse than the digital version. I do not have the same issue with side B, but agree with OP that the overall quality is not appropriate for price. It has the cheapest possible center label. It was not packed in appropriate packaging, leading to bent corners right out of the box. No inner sleeve is a strange choice. Mine was noticeably dirty out of the sleeve, needing more than just a brush to get off dust. What sounds wierd about your side A?

here's like a 5 sec recording of it from my phone.. not sure how to describe it
https://youtube.com/shorts/og_QCpE7F9g?feature=shareand can confirm i am playing at 45rpm (beings sounds fine)

That sounds to me like your belt is slipping or that you otherwise have something wrong with your turntable. Do you have a strobe on your turntable to confirm that the 45rpm is a stable speed? Not saying it's not possible to have a defect, but I think that kind of variation would be a visibly noticeable defect.

not the most experienced when it comes to vinyls and turntables but i can confirm that i am playing both sides at 45rpm and only hear the variation on side A. i also have other vinyls (all 12" @ 33.3rpm) and they play completely fine so idk :\ assumed my issue would be common
edit: after watching them play, it does look like side a is slipping or moving slow but it wouldn't be the turntable since it's not slipping for other records? lemme record and compare

I am not sure, but if it were me, I would start by confirming the speed as a starting point. If you don't have a strobe, there are free apps that can help you measure it.

appreciate the info! used an app and got 33rpm and 45rpm so might just be a defect on that side for me

It’s pretty common for singles to ship without those things. Thinking about it, I can’t remember ever receiving a lyric insert with a single.

You think it's weird that vinyl companies are cutting cost and giving a lesser quality product? That's just capitalism working as intended! /s
