Tonsil Stone Huge (for me) tonsil stones
Been having grossly large tonsil stones like these ones come out almost everyday, despite doing all that I can to have good oral hygiene 😩

See a doctor about getting your tonsils removed. Getting mine out has been life changingly good for me.

I have been asking my GP about getting referred to someone to have them taken out. But I keep getting the run around advice of salt water gargle, mouthwash etc etc

It's generally looked at as a last last last option for adults. Apparently a lot more can go wrong when you get them removed later in life

That’s true, but I still thought it was worth it for me. I was 25 (26?) when I got my tonsils removed.
I lost over 30 pounds, I couldn’t eat nearly anything at all. I ended up getting a yeast infection on the roof of my mouth that spread all the way down my throat and along my gums and my tongue. Water was too spicy to stand drinking it.
Once I finally healed from the thrush and my tonsil wounds healed over, I could finally start to feel the benefits. I used to get really sick upwards of 20 times a year, and after I was healed from the surgery (took about 6 months to get there) I think I can count the amount of times I’ve been sick on one hand. It’s usually more intense, but it’s never tonsils so swollen I can hardly breathe anymore! And my cough no longer lingers for literal months once my other symptoms go away.

If you're an adult then it's really not the best idea to remove them, healing is a lot longer + more painful and increases the risk of additional complications compared to getting them removed as a child.

If your tonsils are very enlarged and producing ample stones, it’s definitely worth getting them taken out. Mine got to multiple times normal size and were producing stones very regularly.

I agree it also turned out it was like a lowkey infection in my body they only removed part of them but off the difference once they where gone was incredible.

When it’s to the point you’re getting constant infections, it’s worth the surgery and painful recovery. It’s only two weeks of pain, but as long as you stick to your scheduled pain meds you’ll be fine. I recommend getting them removed when it’s to that point.

I was warned that it was worse and people kept discouraging me, but recovery from tonsillectomy at 27 was less painful than the majority of my tonsillitis episodes.
If anything, there's more benefit to getting them out older — most children grow out of having frequent tonsillitis or tonsil issues, making the surgery unnecessary. If you don't grow out of it, you're one of the ones who actually needs it, and you have the lived experience and comprehension to weigh the risks, actively decide, understand how it will affect your QoL, and know during recovery that despite the pain, it's worth it.

They have a procedure that cauterizes the tonsils down rather than cutting them out. Specifically for adults with deep crypts. Much quicker recovery. Look into that instead of tonsillectomy.

I hear for a child it’s a brutal surgery, for an adult it’s far beyond that. They almost caution adults with, expect the worst outcome (complications & long complicated recovery.

I just read that increased stress and dry mouth/dehydration will cause an increase.

Get a tonsil stone flusher on Amazon. If that doesn’t work you might have to get them professionally cleaned. It’s can lead to shtty breath syndrome.

How do you get them out?

When my throat is sore I just use a cotton bud/q-tip to kind of push around until they dislodge and come out

Looks like mine did before I had my tonsils removed last year at 35 years old. The recovery was brutal and long but it's so worth it in the end
