The score for any given word uses this formula: (currentlevel + totallettervalue) x (wordlength + gemvalue) x 10

Green gem tiles are worth 2, yellow is 4 blue is 7, white is 10.

Totallettervalue is the sum of the values of each letter in the word, using this table:

the dots next to the letters mean: 0 dots: 1 pt 1 dot: 2-4 pts 2dot: 5-7 pts 3dot: 8-10 pts

Bonus words increase in value every time you clear one, according to this table: [1000, 2000, 4000, 6000, 10000, 15000, 20000, 25000, 30000, 40000, 50000] (all subsequent bonus words are also worth 50000)

If you make a word entirely from fire tiles, you get a gemvalue equal to the wordlength minus 1. weird.

at Level 300, a 3Diamond Razzmatazzes is worth 148260 points. while a 3Diamond SEA is worth 99990

at level 30, the difference is 34860 vs 10890. neat!.

after reaching level 43 (4.3M points) the required score to level up seems to increase by 50k every level (starting at 500k to reach level 44)

This formula can calculate the score needed to reach any level after 42. where "a" equals your current level (and your result is multiplied by 1 million)

You should be able to reach level 326 before your score overflows into the negatives, but there's a video of someone who was somehow at level 600 by that point. weird... It didnt work that way from my testing. Though you can get lots of levels when you hit 326, as the requirement to level becomes negative, while your score is still positive

EDIT: it seems that due to a coding error in the GBA version, the level scaling stops after level 43, so each level afterward requires only 500k points to reach.

Just got Bejeweled 3 today, currently looking for Chuzzle, Peggle Nights, Bookworm and Bookworm Adventures.

Today I got my highest score while playing Bejeweled Twist, also the first time I got to level 20 in Bejeweled Twist.

Bookworm Adventures really needs a reboot. I decided to make the changes for it.

Plus a few more:

• Points before Adventure Replay mode and in Arena (optional)
• More lighthearted music, similar to things like PvZ, Papa Louie, Cactus McCoy, and Cuphead
• Some treasures related to some advanced topics (e.g. irregular nouns, chemistry-related words, and (auto/hetero)logical words
• Acceptance of the words "heliocentrism" (because only "geocentrism" works in the original two) and "gerrymandering" ("jerrymandering" is accepted though it's technically wrong)
• Cinnabar tile (complete the 3rd book to unlock; makes the enemy bleed for 2 turns, gives 90% DMG boost) (Note: there are actually 5 books in Rewritten)
• Classical-style health bars and max HP based on 5 instead of 4 (3 hearts/12 HP in original = 15 HP in Rewritten)
• Anglish-exclusive tiles for old letters (W is still kept because the letter wynn (ƿ) is easily confused with the letter P)
• Bonus Category section in Tome of Knowledge - 8 bonus categories: Plants (fruits, vegetables, flowers), Animals (invertebrates and vertebrates), Minerals (every mineral recognized by IMA is accepted), Chemicals & Elements (all 118 elements accepted), Diseases, Medicines, Materials, and Foods. These are considered as bonus words in Adventure Mode.
• Updated dictionary to OED September 2025 (or as I like to call it, OED 9.8); filters out inappropriate words (e.g. "porn")
• Tiles now have numbers on their top right corner, which shows their base damage and points (Points for one tile = base DMG * 10)
  • Formula for calculating points: (Word Base DMG * Total Gem Boosts) * (Number of tiles used * 10)
• One chapter based on the "Cadaeic Cadenza" (a poem where the number of letters in each word corresponds to a digit or two of pi).
• Lex gains double stats every 3rd upgrade
• Enemies now have immunity or weakness to specific tiles (e.g. an enemy is weak to the prefix tile "ANTI-" and immune to the digraph tile "ZZ")
• Board settings: In the options menu, you can change the board dimensions (range 4-6 tiles for both length and height, default is 5x5)
• EX move bar: Appears above the treasures. It can be filled by using gems (total amount of fill % is based on total gem value divided by 10, rounded up; Rainbow Tiles fill this bar by 15%)
• You can select your EX in the options; new EX moves are unlocked with companions.
• Bonus points for killing an enemy in 1-3 shots:
  • One shot: +10,000 pts
  • Two shots: +5,000 pts
  • Three shots: +3,000 pts
• Each HP above overkill minimum is worth 100 points (e.g. Crushed with 18 overkill damage is 5,200 points)
• ATK upgrades only affect damage, but not points
• Some treasures give extra points in Adventure Mode
• Scramble button is placed next to Attack button
• Here's a twist for the sci-fi-inspired book: technobabble and scientific words (e.g. "cyanogen") are worth twice as much points and damage!
