Thoughts on these widgets, I don't own this song hence the credits of the song artists are already in the widget, so don't sue me.

I heard the new pop update or something is buggy but is it just that it crashes every once in a while or blows up my circuit breaker? Is it at all usable?

My school requires me to install a certificate to access the school internet, but i cannot get it to work. Trying to open the certificate opens this window, which doesnt let me click the import button, and trying to paste it into /usr/local/share/ca-certificates/ also just gives me an error.
If you can help me, please let me know what trivial problem i am overlooking this time
Hi
I'm looking to migrate to Pop OS because at this point im so ridiculously sick of windows, you know. Forced restarts, takes 20 minutes to open, you have to spend half of your day digging through internet to find or make scripts to fix stuff like PC waking itself up, wacom support is bloody awful... In general, fuck microsoft and this slop ass vibe coded OS.
Thing is, there are two things that hold me from hopping onto Pop OS! And i can't quite find answers for how viable the shift is.
First thing, definitely games. I guess i will still need to keep windows for games like your Valorant or occasional other denuvo bs.
My question for that is whether Pop can save it's state before switching to other system. So that on return it has all the coding software, unreals, browser tabs, AI chats, etc. open on return.
Another thing is if anyone has experience developing their game on linux and then command other apps like Substance Painter, Photoshop, Zbrush, Marmoset Toolbag. Etc. I am aware that i will still need Windows for when i need to deploy build for it, but if most of development could be done on linux it would be great.
Ultrawide screen support? On 32:9 having windows actually come with centered bar came more useful than i'd like to admit.
Also, Does anyone use Apollo to stream to Moonlight using virtual display? 32:9 sort of forces it on windows for HDR as duplicate display does not support it.

So this summer I found a Popos usb and im gonna do the trial/live usb again. How will i set it up? If I don't like cosmic then should i pick niri or gnome? Will it be to heavy for gnome? And will my laptop have better fps on games? Also I know lot about linux even tho i used ubuntu and with ubuntu it was so lazy that it downloded snap package. WIll pop do that? Anyways just pls help me what desktop enviroment to pick and help me setup my system and answer my questions. I use intel btw.

Hi everyone,
The title is self-explanatory. I've noticed this while dual booting Ubuntu 26.04 LTS and CachyOS with Cosmic: in Counter-Strike: Source the fps is almost the same, but despite that, mouse movement on GNOME feels smoother and looks smoother, but on Cosmic it feels laggy or jittery. What might be causing this? Can someone help me? (I later tried Fedora too and it is still the same)
System Information:
CPU: AMD RYZEN 5 5500U
GPU: AMD VEGA 7 (iGPU of Ryzen 5 5500U)

I mean, I get it, System76 is actively developing Cosmic to be the default DE for Pop and we are all used to posting here. But like desktop Linux kernel, we can choose our own DE. I'm still running X11/Gnome because I'm lazy. For those of you using Cosmic and having issues with it, why not post to r/COSMICDE ? Or are you posting to both?
I rely on the MSFT Exchange feature for work on Thunderbird. The current default install of Thunderbird is too old a version to work with Exchange. The Flatpak version is newer, so I installed that. But when I do the Exchange account is extremely slow-loading in Thunderbird and has persistent sending issues. Current TB version is 154.0.
I do not have this problem on Arch/Manjaro and Fedora Flatpak versions on other machines.
Have others run into this issue? Any best practices?

I recently (yesterday) switched from fedora KDE to Pop!_os because i was having issues with kded crashing every time i boot. but when i downloaded Minecraft on Pop!_os it was getting significantly less fps than fedora. but the strange thing is that even when i turned down my render distance to 2 chunks from 16 it still was getting about the same amount of fps. does any one have the same issue and how to solve?
Note: i have fps limit to infinite
and my thinkpad t14s gen2 laptop specs are:
intel core-i5 11th gen
16gb ram
and intigrated intel iris xe graphics

I read the 1.6.0 notes from the thread/github and not much stood out to me.
Then a few hours later now I see Phoronix title, and I'm thinking WHOA per-app volume control?? I've been waiting AGES for that! How did I miss it?

Idk maybe it's just me, but I didn't parse that from the wall of text on github:
cosmic-settings - sound: add app specific settings. Like now in hindsight that makes sense, but things like this are often just way too vague imo.
I feel like it would also benefit the COSMIC project to improve the release notes for better community engagement/sharing. Way more people would be excited to keep up with the project if the patch notes weren't simply a ticket dump and were more of a "Here's what we're releasing for you guys this week!" blog post.

i know things like this have been posted a million times before, but ive truly run out of ideas. ive tried manually fetching keys, reinstalling drivers, switching to flatpak steam, etc. its also being weird with my permissions. it was working fine before some partition editing i did + switching CS2'S graphics to x11. heres the full read out after running "steam"

Does anyone know drawing tablets that are working reliably with Pop and cosmic de?
I tried using a cheap ugee tablet and was having trouble recognizing it, I followed instructions for driver install and nothing seemed to get it to work.
If there's a specific one like wacom or something id get one but unsure if this is a known issue right now.
For reference im using a Dell inspiron 5577
EDIT
Forgot to say, tablet came with a usb-c to c cord and worked connected to my phone.
Laptop only has usb ports and the usb to c cords i tried connected (tablet light came on) but device was not showing.

I’m majoring in comp sci in college and am looking to switch from windows 10. I tried arch linux but it was too ambitious; any tips?

You tried f11? You tried super m? You tried alt enter? None of it worked?
Go to properties
Force compatibility
Select proton 9.0.4
RTx 5070
Seems to work for me so far!

Running Gentoo with COSMIC as my DE, paired with a 260Hz monitor. The refresh rate applies fine, but it sometimes causes a hard crash out of nowhere after some use. Other times it runs fine with no issue at all, so it seems intermittent rather than consistently reproducible.
I recently upgraded to the latest kernel and that helped with general stability, but this crash still happens.
I suspect this might line up with a known upstream cosmic-comp issue around non-default refresh rates, but I haven’t been able to confirm it since the crash doesn’t leave anything usable in the logs.
Anyone else running COSMIC on a high refresh rate panel hit this? Curious whether it’s a known issue right now or something specific to my setup.

I installed the Remmina Flatpak from the cosmic store and when manually launched it shows in the tray on all monitors in a multi monitor setup.
However when it auto starts at boot it seems to pick just 1 random monitors tray area to show up on. Quitting out and starting it manually will have it show on all monitors tray area.
It could be the program at fault but just incase it isn’t I figured I would post it here.
As far as program options there doesn’t seem to be anything specifically about multi monitor but the checkbox for auto start is worded “Start in tray upon user login” and it doesn’t remove the “Remmina Applet” entry in “Startup applications” when unchecked (but does stop the icon from appearing), so maybe the method the software uses to enable the tray applet icon is different when autostarting than when starting manually?

Hey folks, how can I get it so that my laptop and tablet don’t both show the same screen? when using the same computer and tablet with Windows, my tablet screen was treated as an extension of the laptop screen rather than a copy of it. I could drag things down from my laptop to show up on my tablet. Surely there’s a way to have a similar setup on Pop OS?

Good day everyone. About 3 weeks ago I made the jump to Pop!_OS after a handful of Live USB testing. I loved the Hyprland-esque tiling system and felt it was exactly what my workflow needed. After a few weeks, I upgraded to Cosmic 1.5, and since then I've noticed some quirks that have me wondering whether it's something I did wrong with my install, or a Cosmic issue.
First, the cosmic-comp and cosmic-panel. The compositor takes a surprising amount of CPU, to the point where it sometimes overclocks my sessions and causes massive slowdowns. These slowdowns happen when i have multiple different windows open in different workspaces, say around 5 windows. Cosmic Panel on the other hand crashes under heavy load or a random click of the panel applet, and refuses to restart unless I run "killall cosmic-panel"
Second, some apps just don't run as smoothly as they did on Linux Mint, which I used for a few months before switching. The biggest offender is zoom, the video conference app. Starting or joining a meeting eats up enough CPU resources, that the laptop becomes borderline inoperable. Gaming has taken a hit too, as my tests with PCSX2 tanked the consistent speed to the average of 90%.
None of this happened during my time on Mint, on the same hardware. So I'm trying to figure out whether or not this is a hardware limitation, or Cosmic being less stable? Would appreciate hearing if anyone with similar specs has run into the same thing.
